Gotta be honest, though, the pass rush could have been much better even with a vanilla scheme. Coples was pathetic.
No way. He definitely went all out. Preseason is everything. It's just like lifting weights, you know the strongest guy is the one who warms up the most intensely.
I didn't focus on him but it seemed like Richardson was getting shitted on whenever I noticed him too.
that was the most concerning part of D next to Wilson. It could get better… but it wasn't a factor this time out. I mean we expect our backup corners to be lackluster next to this passing game, but I expect more from the front 7. Everybody's healthy, put up or shut up.
I haven't watched the game yet, so this is 'in general': It's hard to get vets to kill themselves in PS games, even 2nd year guys who are locked up. About the only guys you see giving their all are bubble and camp fodder guys. The difference in intensity between PS and RS is like double. Hopefully this is what's going on with our Dline, and Coples in particular.
The Jets have a front 3 that could rival the front of any 3-4 team in terms of talent, they should be able to push the middle a lot better than they did. Cincy didn't seem to have any problems getting their starters to rise to the occasion. On a brighter note, I noticed Calvin Pryor the moment he entered the game. He spent most of his time in the box, but he looked twice as quick as any player on the field and navigates through a crowd of players with great instinct. I hope his coverage ability impresses me even half that much.
Its a preseason game not the Wildcard round, yea the secondary looks bad but that's only because Millners not in the game and either is Patterson.Give it time, and don't blame Rex he doesn't put the roster together. You can send a postcard to your boy Idzik for that
I don't disagree with you, but it's funny to see someone who is ready to kick a GM to the curb after less than a year with the team and yet preach patience for a HC in his sixth year with the team.
like someone already said, DBs getting killed may be the best thing ever. Makes it almost impossible for Izzy to keep his head buried in the sand. If he's working on something, this may speed him up?
What a joke.....you losers complaining about a 2nd preseason game that's basically just a scrimmage.....do me and the rest of the positive Jets fans a favor, go root for the Eagles......we've never beaten them in our entire history of regular season....that should give you more flames to fan.
C'mon this thread is petty along with the original top 5 defense statement. That secondary is not what we will see week 1 or throughout the year. Pryor played great thats whats important for me. I think we'll be fine. I like what i seen from the run game and geno didnt do so bad himself outside from the pick and poor play calling while we was in the game
I'm not looking to kick him to the curb, he needs to realize that in New York Cash is King...Spend the cash get the talent we need...bargain shop on middle ground and back-end players..not Starters!!
Thank you George Steinbrenner for the advice. Too bad you have no clue about assembling a roster in the NFL with a salary cap.
The amount of AIDS going on in this forum is insane. Give it time, the Jets are notoriously bad in preseason, especially the defense.
Coples has never impressed me , he needs to step the fuck up an live up to his draft status, or they need to trade his ass
