That's a pretty brutal succession of plays but by most accounts this would be his first "bad" practice of the year and in the pouring rain. Lets wait to crucify him?
there will be options at shorter ranges if Decker is taken away. Kerley, Nelson, Amaro, Cumberland, Johnson, SOMEBODY will get open, if not run or throw it away. Its not the unbeatable strategy its made out to be.
was surprised to see Kerley lined up a lot at flanker, with Nelson in the slot/motion against Indy. that could be interesting, but to your point, doesn't present a lot of deep threat. maybe Ford or Saunders can be worked in to provide some speed. was really hoping Hill could fill that role..
At least the fact that he's dropping balls means that they are coming to him. He can't have the opportunity to have the ball in his hands if he was open/covered to begin with. At least there's that.
I think it does a really good job of pointing out most of the things Hill needs to improve on in order to be a legit NFL WR. ( Based on film and analysis from the past 2 seasons ). My point was that it was seeming like he was making strides to correct most of what that article talks about until the drops / troubles today. I'm just saying,.. If he caught all 3 of those drops and brought them to the house everyone would be saying "Let me see it in the game, Hill still sucks". So... lets wait until we see it in a game maybe?
You're right. But I am talking about what other people said about him not being able to get open. At least he's getting open to put himself in a position to catch a ball. The actual catching he has a problem with.
Is Hill stupid or something? Why can't he get this stuff through his head. I understand being raw and needing to refine yourself as a professional, but he is STILL trying to catch the ball with his body?!?! That's wide receiver 101.. use your hands. I'm your average joe fat guy and I know that you aren't supposed to catch the ball with your body. Year three in the NFL and he's still trying to trap passes with his chest. Unbelievable....
You would think a WR would first and foremost learn how to catch a freakin ball. Maybe they should move Stephen Hill to DB.
I just don't think he ever really learned how to trust his hands. I have seen him make hand catches before, but for the most part he just doesn't seem to like to extend his arms.
Rex was just asked about Hill, defended him somewhat "It's not business as usual in the weather we had today". Expresses that he felt Hill played well and looked good in preseason game 1 ( despite no targets/catches ). Interesting, I was expecting Rex to fire one across Hills bow here.. Maybe not as big a deal as it seemed from the tweets.
I've seen no updates,.. But he walked with his own power without a limp, Hopefully he's not going to miss much time.
Yeah, I don't understand it, very frustrating. Maybe Rex can ask him to watch videos of Lance Alworth to get him to see how he should play WR..(if he wants to, of course)
Something I say every time a player drops a ball thrown to them that has pretty much been trademarked to me by my friends applies to Hill. "You're a player in the National FOOTBALL League, and you can't catch a FOOTBALL." A wide RECEIVER, nonetheless. How the hell is he still a professional WR in this league if he can't actually RECEIVE the ball. It's ridiculous.
