No real news yet on anyone. Rex just made Costello and Manish stand at the podium and grilled them on the Post/Daily News rivalry. Pretty funny in and of itself. Not so much today.
by the way is Rex considering not making Pryor a Starter? cuz all he does is putting him with the 2s and the 3s lol you dont draft a first round safety to add depth lol.
I agree. This is fukin bad. Lankster and Walls with Wilson in slot. We face Aaron Rogers/Randall Cobb/Jordy Nelson, Matt Stafford/Megatron, Jay Cutler/Brandon Marshall/Alshon Jeffery, Phillip Rivers/Keenan Allen, Tom Brady, and Peyton Manning/Wes Welker/Demayrius Thomas/Emannuel Sanders Not even rex can fix it. If you don't have the guys...nobody could.
The reality is this is the pitfall of one of Idzik's strategy which is to get high upside guys with injury histories ( Ivory, Vick, Ford, Millner, McDougal, Patterson, etc). It works great when they are healthy because you save $$ and you have upside and unfortunately things can fall apart in a hurry. I think Idzik needs to think more about balancing health history against upside but overall he's still doing a great job here. Maybe it's time to trade Ellis and or Hill and a draft pick for a cornerback like Jonathan Joseph
You lost me "he's doing a great job." By the way, why would anybody want Hill? Great speed and little else. And what does Ellis bring to the table? I think a team like the Jets that has a smart amount of margin of error cannot afford injuries.
Whoa looks like i was on the money... http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/08/10/jets-reach-out-to-asante-samuel/
Eric Allen Greg Salas having a strong practice. 1st unit D has put some pressure on Geno in team - Wilson on a blitz and Mo not buying a PA fake. 11:47AM EDT This guy has been making plays everyday. It was unfortunate that we couldn't see him against the Colts but I think he's a dark horse and he's not Spadola 2.0. Dude had 1,590 yards his junior year with 8 TDs and followed it up with 1,675 his last year second only to Justin Blackmon. Great hands and I remember him taking a bubble screen 40 or so yards late last season.
SethWalderNYDNSeth Walder Hill beat Allen on a deep route on first play...and then dropped the pass. #nyj 15 minutes ago SethWalderNYDNSeth Walder Allen and Lankster at cornerback again today. Landry and Jarrett at safety. #nyj 14 minutes ago eallenjetsEric Allen Vick dials up the long ball to Salas and the WR makes a good hands catch. Pressure was there though and 1 facing a lot of it in the rain. 2 minutes ago
I have to say that my biggest surprise of camp has been how well salas has performed. Do you all think its possible he will end up as our #2 wr and bump hill to the curb.
Chris Lopresti @CLoprestiWFAN 2m Stephen Hill wide open across the middle. Geno puts it on him and he drops it. Tried to cradle it in his midsection again. SMH... #NYJ Chris Lopresti @CLoprestiWFAN 2m Now it's Hill vs. Lankster on a go route. Geno drops it in and Hill drops another one. Same story...didn't elevate with his hands. #NYJ Chris Lopresti @CLoprestiWFAN 1m Lankster had good coverage but if Hill jumps with his hands above his head, he probably catches it. #NYJ So much for improving same old shit cant catch
I think Idzik put too much faith in Hill as a #2. Yeah we have Decker, but if hes doubled who can take the defense deep? Nelson? Saunders? Oy
http://www.ganggreennation.com/2014/8/11/5993255/stephen-hill-king-of-the-theoretical-hill This is a great take on some of the struggles of Hill. In particular, it highlights one means of defending against him as discovered by Pettine; give you're corner a cushion so as to take away his edge in pure speed. Hes no threat in short yardage territory because he lacks instincts, doesn't have great acceleration despite his fine top end speed, and doesn't have a lot of quick cut ability either. He's likely to just hit a go route, so give yourself a head start and wait for him to come to you.
