I think we go 9-7 and make the 6th seed...Our running game and Chris Johnson's speed will play a huge factor into our overall success. But I also think there may be injuries that could possibly damper our season...Cornerbacks could get lit up. I think there will be some rough games again, but overall the team will grow together as we progress...I also think we go on a mini-run to end the season on a good note (beating Pats and Dolphins) to make the playoffs Would not surprise me if the AFC East only has 10 wins to win out. My goal is they get to 10 wins and Geno proves to be our new starter at QB moving forward P.S. And of course I hope we throw a touchdown to the WR Revis will be defending. It needs to happen.
8-8. I don't see a playoff roster short of staying very healthy and catching some good breaks along the way. The secondary and the Oline has me concerned. The QB play is still a ?
We face some average/bad defenses in the early part of the season. So if the defense can contain the offense and our offense take advantage we can beat a few of those dreaded teams.
Hard question. Woody knows the type of media and marketing Rex brings as a head coach alone. Would he be willing to give that up? He knows the fans and players love him as well. Additionally, he knows that if he fires Rex, come free agency, many players will want to go where he goes. That also happened when Rex came from Baltimore and took a chunk of players from their defense.
anything is possible, but if they go 9-7 Rex should win coach of the year you still have: 1) an offense that couldn't score any points + Eric Decker and a 29-year old Chris Johnson 2) Jets joke of a CB situation has to contend with a murderer's row of QBs and receivers in the NFC North 3) a 2nd-year QB who was a turnover machine backed up by an older turnover machine QB who can run faster the GM who thinks he's smarter than everybody else wants you to believe we can go to war with Dmitri Patterson (if he can get off the trainer's table), Darrin Walls, and a safety playing CB for the first time in his life (Antonio Allen) against these combos: Aaron Rodgers to Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb Jay Cutler to Brandon Marshall, Alshon Jeffery Peyton Manning to Demaryius Thomas, Julius Thomas, Welker, etc. Matt Stafford to Calvin Johnson not to mention Phil Rivers, Roethlisberger and likely an improved Tannehill with a better OC and a rebuilt O-line
Right and those teams have average to bad defenses. So why can't our offense take advantage of that? It works both ways.
I was pretty confident in our DBs until I read about Milliner's high ankle sprain. Now I'm not so sure.
I think this is a 10-6 caliber team assuming that the defense is pretty good, our O-Line stays healthy, and we get decent play out of the QB position. At 10-6 you hopefully make the playoffs and take your shot. Anything can happen. People also need to realize that having a great D-Line can help make up for some less then stellar CB play. Lets see how this Milliner thing plays out first and you still never know with guys like Patterson and Walls.
Some teams get better, some teams get worse- but all of them will say that they're better in the preseason. There are always teams who should be good, but aren't, and teams that come from out of nowhere to be relatively decent. Part of the formula for the Jets getting to the playoffs would involve having a respectable pass attack, and fewer turnovers. If we can do that, we can make the playoffs without a top-3 defense. Upside is 10-6 (requires some lucky wins), downside is 6-10 (horrorshow at QB and lots of injuries.) I'll say 9 wins and the #6 seed.
Looking at our brutal schedule with 6 consecutive early games against top QBs, our OL, and our secondary 6-10 seems a bit optimistic.
I said 8-8 before TC. I'm saying 8-8 now MAYBE. I just don't see an offense capable of putting a lot of points on anyone. That means, IMO, a lot of 3 and outs and our Defense just like last year, will have to almost pitch a shutout to give the team a chance to win. They (the D) are gonna play a lot of minutes over the first 8 games so its a crapshoot as to how much they'll have left in Nov. and Dec. I see the Jets in a lot of games under 30 total pts and perhaps losing more often than winning due to a tired defense at crunch time. Given the issues in the secondary and a questionable pass rush without heavy blitzing, this is not a PO team and it certainly isn't the "best defense in the NFL" no matter what Pace may think. Now it may be the best "Front 7" in the AFC but the other 4 guys bring a lot of question marks. I will say this, like another poster said, if Rex gets this offensively challenged/defensively handicapped team into the Playoffs, he should be inducted into Canton immediately. I said it before and I'll say it again.. 2015 folks... 2015
