First place in this race was $1,500 according to www.nascar.com , silly for Stewart to be racing in it.
This will not end well for him. He has a history of doing stupid sh!t while in his vehicle towards other drivers.
Looks like he tried to just clip him but got more than just a clip. He's lucky this didn't happen in NASCAR as there would be a camera on him at all times as well as his driving stats.
Wow, that's horrific, 20 years old, looks like TS swerved his car to the right, to avoid him wouldn't you swerve to the left...
You're right Matt, he appeared to do just that. If nothing else, just like the car that preceeded Stewart in passing the kid standing on the track, Stewart could've (and should've) went out of his way (to the left) to avoid the kid altogether. At the very least, to hear that Stewart plans on racing today in the Sprint Cup race at Watkins Glen is mind-blowing imo. Like, are you kidding?
Just announced by Zippy, he won't be racing...the yellow flag was out Joe and he knew where the kid hit the wall, so he should have been low on the track, I believe he tried to swerve at him and scare him but Instead hit him
Its hard to tell, he definitely swerved at him but he might not have seen him until the last second because there was a car in front of him and he was going around a turn. Im not defending Stewart but im fairly positive they do sign a death waiver, I am not sure legally what will happen.
Thanks for the update Matt. Couldn't believe that he would've gone through with it, it would've looked so callous. As for the "just trying to scare him" (which I think you have something there), trying to prove that 'intent' beyond a reasonable doubt would be almost impossible imho in that you can't prove or disprove what was going on in Stewart's mind.
I love how people on here saw what wasn't on the video. The car in front of Stewart almost hit him. I'm not saying he didn't mean to hit him but no way u can tell from that video.
Thats what I took from it as well, stupid as hell to go in the middle of the damn tracks, not sure what he was trying to accomplish.
'Death waivers' don't mean shit here. New York State does not allow you to give someone permission to kill you. The kid was foolish to leave his car and walk onto the track, but Stewart hit him on purpose and needs to face criminal charges.
Any waivers they sign would just to be to protect the organization in case of death during the normal course of events. Not to protect some asshole from intentionally hitting a guy with their car.
