These early games will put more pressure on the DBs, Rex is not going to show any schemes or stunts until game 1. I'm not calling anyone out yet. All I wanted to see really was the rookies and how they cope. George didn't look good, mainly because he got caught out of position, again I think this will be fixed game 1. Another LB who didn't play well (except for STs) was Nick Bellore , who whiffed badly on one play, that said he wasn't really on long enough to say that . I can't wait to see Pryor go full steam and don't think we'll see this until pre-season game 3. Overall I thought it was a good game to blow the cobwebs off with, and getting the W helps in my book too. Its never too early to stockpile confidence.
Quick takeaways from what I saw, its just pre-season no gameplans or actual schemes so I just wanted to see if Geno looked better in the pocket. I thought he did, his dropback looked better and he actually stepped up in the pocket and used his feet more. We need to pick up the blitz much better though but still working on chemistry on the right side with Breno so I have faith that we will get that cleaned up. Decker looked awesome out there granted it was against some bland coverages his routes look crisp and Geno seems to trust him a lot. Dee Milliner looks so comfortable out there now but his hands are fucking made of stone, I was screaming at him through the TV "Finish the play and grab the pick!". Vick did exactly what I expected, made a few nice plays with his feet but also showed why he won't last a full 16, dude just refuses to slide feet first and hes a frail looking guy. All in all its a glorified unscripted scrimmage, I didn't watch the second half, it was nice to see some Jets football, and Dimitri Patterson is fucking dogshit lol.
No major injuries and we didn't turn the ball over. That's 2 things i'm real happy about. Also growing in confidence with Davis and Milliner. keep it up guys. Pace and Harris still got good pop in their game. now let's create some turnovers of our own! The Oline and the second CB spot i've been concerned about all offseason, and still am.
Both corners were playing man all game. I think the 2nd CB is a weak spot too but wont look like yesterday when that spots given safety help. Also very little pass rush yesterday which I expect to change. The guard position is definitely a worry for me.
Geno looked wayyyy better than he did last pre-season thats for sure. Still holds on to the ball a little too long, but looks more poise. I hated that play where he threw it as he was being sacked that took me back to last season, but outside of that things look good for him. Our o-line fucking stinks bro, im not so sure if CJ will be able to break longs runs with this shit... he'll probably prosper off of screens and check downs making something out of nothing, but ivory is gonna have to stay healthy and carry that load for the most part. I dont know what was up with all the check down passes every play but hopefully Marty just doesnt wanna show too much. Defense didnt look like themselves up front against the run but i expect them to be ready come week 1. SHOUT OUT TO DEE MILLINER BALLING LIKE A VETERAN CORNER! Gotta catch that INT though. Patterson can kick rocks, he not ready for Rex's system.. I can only hope Pryor is gonna be there on plays like the one when TY Hilton ran pass Harris across the middle to bring hell to that WR.
First off, what's up with the pictures of Asian jail bate attached to this site. Not complaining just perplexed as it's kinda seedy IMO.... Patterson sucks bad from what he showed, hopefully he's better than my gut is telling me. We are a team that wants to run with an oline that is better suited for pass protection. Generated little if any push against a team not exactly known for run d. We will miss Howard and while winters is young he's hardly a sure bet. The rest are past prime, colon may be tough but I don't like his prospects this yr. This o-line will be the Achilles heel of this team. For a team that talks about being about running the ball to go into a season with winters and colon at guard with marginal talent behind them is borderline incompetence. Geno was fine and Vick is a luxury we never have had. I like this team but the offense is undermanned. Rex constantly talking about his d but given all the high draft picks devoted to that side of the ball they better dominate or we are fucked.
Uhhhh I think the adds are targeted advertising based off your browser history, I get ads for comic books and cars. As far as the offense being undermanned we really won't be able to tell until week one. Everything about the preseason is smoke and mirrors. We might not have the world in offensive weapons so I'm just fine with not letting the cat out of the bag just yet.
Lmao, haha too much pornhub, so funny I don't even....... Good points all, get the vanilla O and all but a line that gets no push is a bad sign IMO. It's hard to look at our line and feel comfortable.
Problem with using pre-season game #1 to evaluate our O-line is we have 4 long time vets who have seen WAY too many pre-season games and, for the life of them, can NOT get pumped for it. At all. Your gonna have to wait for the season opener to see any fire and brimstone from that group.
Glad no injuries Geno seemed a bit more poised for sure, except for that silly throw trying to avoid sack Vick was exactly what I expected - better than Geno at keeping drives alive ATM, but can't see his style working more than a few games- too many exposed hit chances on 34 year old smallish guy is not the blueprint for sustained success O line didn't impress but it's just pre season D line didn't impress but it's just pre season Coples just makes me sad. Elite talent coming out the ears, but no motor. What a shame. Secondary was two stories- milliner nice, Patterson scary bad Overall a solid B- mainly due to Geno poise and no injuries.....which I will take
I watched the game not expecting much, and I wasn't disappointed. In honour of the new James Brown bio-pic? Pretty accurate description of the game I saw as well. And so sorry to hear about Jerry's of Rutherford. I've never heard of the place, but I now know how much it meant to you.
I finally got to watch the entire game. Josh Bush, Alex Green and Chad Young stood out to me. Is Green a longshot to make the roster? I hope they figure out a way to keep him.
From the last depth chart they sent out I believe Alex Green was ahead of Daryl Richardson at RB> With ivory and Powell injured....I wouldn't be surprised if they keep another RB until they can nurse their injuries back to health. Maybe keep Alex Green, put Barnes on PUP, and when he comes off...cut Alex Green and hopefully that was enough time (a month) for your RBs to heal.
I liked Green's speed, he's a good weapon around the edge. And Young, that little dude just knows how to finish a block. Both probably long shots to make the team, though.
It's nice to see Bush making some plays, he layed a couple of big hits out there. Green's got some speed doesn't he. Agree, I'd like to see him stick. _
I think the receivers that stood out were Jacoby Ford and Decker. I want to see Salas and Enunwa get some more burn next game. I think with the way our offense is setup we really only need 2 guys to step up outside of Kerley and Decker to support our offensive schemes.
