He's just not that good. And he's an eggshell. I'm rooting for him to show some semblance of being a credible starting receiver though.

As much as I want him to succeed with this Jets, I am taking the Wait And See Approach. If he makes the starting rotation
and is still performing well after the 3rd, 4th game i give him a pass if not then its time to Cut bait.

Ducasse got 4 years. Hill gets this season, it's Year 3. I've tried to support him. I believe he can be productive, but I don't expect him to be more than a 2 WR.

I'll be keeping an eye on Hill tonight for sure. If he can emerge as a reliable option for Geno it will totally transform this offense. We need that deep threat badly. It hasn't been the same since Edwards left.

Does anyone have Hill stats for the game yet?

Hill got robbed of a nice completion by a holding penalty (that was called. But I'd still rather have seen him get to catch it.)

Was Hill in the game last night, Seems like Geno is in love with Decker. They Def have something.

35 snaps, just the one target from Simms negated by the holding call on a slant. Would have been good if he pulled that in though.

Seemed like the offense had a lot of focus on the running game and timing routes with the new WRs, and rightly so.

The one thing I did notice was Hill still handles people in run blocking.

35 snaps... not 1 of any impact. Hill seems to be in midseason form to me!

No catches doesn't mean no impact.. Like I said he had a couple of really key blocks,.. Specifically on the designed keep from Geno, Hill absolutely plastered his guy and allowed Geno to pick up extra yardage.

As I said it appeared that the offense was focused on the running game and seeing what the new faces can bring.

FWIW ( practically nothing ) - Kerley had 0 catches last night as well

I was at the game last night, and I tend to fall in the "Hill Hater" crowd more than believer, but FWIW I thought he looked really good last night. I watched solely him when our offense was on the field.

As always, his blocking was excellent, and there was that one pass that got negated by a hold. There were many times throughout the game though that Hill was pretty open downfield and just didn't get targeted for whatever reason. I forget if it was when Geno or Vick was in, but Hill took 6-7 steps like he was just running a fly route, then made a nice athletic slant-type cut into the inside. He was wide open, but Vick (I believe) was already scrambling.

As a whole, he just looked more fluid and athletic, which I think is huge going forward for Hill.

It's just one preseason game but you'd hope to see more from Hill in 35 snaps. Blocking isn't why you have a WR. Hopefully we see more in the coming weeks.

I had a hard time seeing much of the game yesterday - I know Hill didn't start - at what point did he come into the game?

Also - I keep seeing people talk about the pass that was negated by a hold as if he caught it - he didn't.

Thanks! I know it's tough to see everything from the TV angles so good to hear some "Eye test", as some would put it here, observations from someone at the game.

No. He's not a football player. He's a tall guy with effortless long speed. But there's zero suddenness to his game. He can't catch.

He looks sort of ungainly (awkward) out there running his routes. Not sure how to describe it.

Are these observations from last night, or your opinions?
