Like Byz said, don't know how to read you, dude. Considering some of your other stuff that could have easily been serious _
I am excited as hell about Sudfeld. He was highly thought of in New England. It was tough for the fan base to lose him so I figured there was something special about him.
Guess U missed this tweet today from Manish Manish Mehta @MMehtaNYDN 29m Brutal start for Jets 12-man draft class. Pryor, concussion. Amaro struggling. McDougle hurt. Evans appears headed for IR. No standouts #n
http://www.nj.com/jets/index.ssf/20...e_i_dont_want_him_to_make_a_poor_account.html Calvin Pryor is a no-go for Thursday night v. Colts.
just heard Rex speaking to media. when asked if Evans to the IR was a possibility, he replied that it was a very strong possibility. i agree it is a good thing. the kid looked lost out there. he's not ready but you don't want to cut a 4th round pick if you can help it. I'm thinking they only go with 6 WR's now, which will open up a spot for one of the promising defensive players. 25 on O and 25 on D. Have heard Rex mention TJ Barnes quite a bit. Jarrett and Miles both having good camps. And there is quite a competition at OLB. will be tough decisions there. WR might come down to a choice between Ford and Salas.
What the fuck is this? This is the kind of stuff that drives me insane with preseason. The kid has been cleared medically to play. Rex wants to sit him because he is behind mentally, rusty and not fully prepared.. he "doesn't want him to make a poor account for himself." are you serious? Perfectly acceptable that he might be behind because he has missed a lot of reps. But what is the best way to get caught up to speed? being on the field! It does not matter if the Jets win or lose.. I'd support playing the kid the whole game before I supported sitting him when he's physically ready. If he's behind and "makes a poor account of himself" who the fuck cares - it's preseason! thats what the game is for! getting players up to speed for the regular season! I guess this is more of a rant on the NFL preseason overall than Rex but NFL coaches are really so stupid with that. If it truly doesn't matter if you win or lose then ......practice stuff.. I could go on and on but I won't
He prolly worried it hurts his confidence like happened to Dee but i totally get what your saying and I agree , let him play even if with the 2s or 3s.
I'm mixed on it. On one hand, I want to see Pryor get as many live snaps against other teams as he can, on the other I don't want him playing catch-up during live snaps and maybe getting injured because he's thinking too much on the fly and doesn't have his head on a swivel.
Let his brain heal up all well and good. I'm all for erring on the side of caution in the preseason with this kid.
I'm mixed on it too. I'm a big believer in getting young guys a lot of preseason work. If it were a tweaked ankle or shoulder, i'd say get him out there. With brain injuries though, i honestly don't know what to think. its still such a grey area, that i'm not sure there is a right or wrong approach.
Preseason games don't matter. They are dressed up televised practices. The kid has a long promising career ahead of him. Lets not martyr him in the name of being more hardcore than the next team.
I agree about Evans. That could be a blessing in disguise. He seemed to really be struggling mentally but we did hear of some eye popping plays specifically in 7-on-7's. Let him get healthy, focus on the playbook & use this as a "redshirt" similar to Campbell & Aboushi last year. As for the "extra defender", don't be surprised if it's TJ Barnes. Rex talked today about how much they love their depth up front. He made reference to Bill Walsh dressing 9 DL's for games in the 80's so that they always had a steady stream of fresh pass rushers during games. Rex really likes that concept. Any timetable on Antwawn Barnes coming off PUP? I agree OLB is turning into quite the battle. The real match-up shapes between Mcintyre vs. Reilly. Mcintyre is one of Rex's "boys" & is decent at setting the edge behind Pace. But this Reilly kid has a knack for getting to the QB. IK I think goes to PS for redshirt purposes. Speaking of which..what a far cry the PS philosophy is under Idzik compared to Tannenbaum. W/ depth & competition all over the roster it allows you to utilize the practice squad as sort of a "farm/red shirt" system.See my comment about Evans,Aboushi, & Camobell above. Tannenbaum seemed to use the PS as more of an emphasis on scout team & didn't see the value on allowing assets to blossom.Even if only a few of the guys develop into anything..it beats constant turnover of seemingly useless UDFA's. As for that final WR spot..everybody keeps mentioning Ford but I think he is a given. He's really the only legit kick returner on the roster & he has made his share of plays in 11-on-11's.The best way to compliment a physical run first offense is with speed on the outside. This is further exemplified when you consider that both Geno & Vick are at their best throwing down field. Sure you need other types of pieces & you have that with Decker(physical posession type) as well as Kerley(Shifty slot type). I fill in the rest w/ speed. I think the final WR spot comes down to Salas Vs. Nelson. These are the no-nonsense hold the fort route runners. All the other candidates (Hill,Ford,Saunders) bring some type of big play element & upside to the table. Not an easy decision. Nelson brings great size, redzone ability & intangibles while Salas can play both inside/outside & has a knack for getting open.
