If we are talking about guys who should be in the HOF no brainers...yes. I thought that's what the HOF was.
In a totally different era. Reed would dwarf Boldin's numbers if he played today. They are similar in that they are receivers pretty much the same size who are/were hard-nosed, physical, over the middle type guys--except Reed was faster and better. Yeah, terrible comparison, I agree. _
#s guy meaning he never showed up in a big spot. of course he will have better #s, that goes w/ the era. Boldin is not better in his era than reed was in his and Boldin has been very good.
Actually, that's a great point. Reed was one of the top, dominant WRs in his era. Boldin is a very very good WR, but he's not one of the top, dominant guys. _
Reed was a slot guy who had the ability to take a top off the defense. Smith and Boldin are outside receivers who play bully-ball. Reed was never that type of guy...he made a lot of tough catches out of the slot on 3rd down and also could beat you deep. The most similar guy in the league right now would probably be Victor Cruz. Boldin and Smith you could compare, but Reed was really nothing like them. Reed was one of the original slot receivers.
Yeah, but he was not a better player than Strahan. Rice was one dimensional. Strahan, on the other hand, was very good against the run. He was moved to left end in part because he was a complete end. The Giants knew he would be more effective on that side.
Strahan was a better all around DE but Strahan is in the Hall b/c of his pass rush abilities not his play against the run and he moved to the left side b/c he failed rushing the passer fromt he right side facing LTs.
You are entitled to that opinion. I know why he was inducted. Trust me, he is in for being a complete end.

if not for the sham sack record he wouldn't be in, if not for compiling the # of sacks he wouldn't be in. He's in b/c of the compilation of sacks, the sham sack record and for being the new regis philbin.
Taylor is another guy who shouldn't make it, another compiler who completely disappeared in big games and big moments. He was a leader of one of the greatest choking D's of all time but doesn't have a SB w/ a million pass rushers alongside him to save him like Strahan. APs are nice but again he was a LDE facing RTs, that's not really a fair comparison.
Strahan is the best overall player of that group. It will be interesting to see who all gets into the hall from that group and who doesn't. They better not put that punk ass Simeon Rice in the hall.
he's near the bottom of this group w/ the alos overrated Taylor and Hugh Douglas who shouldn't even be mentioned w/ these other guys. sacks per game/DD sack seasons: Jason Taylor .60, 6 in 15 seasons Dwight Freeney .65, 7 in 11 seasons Hugh Douglas .58, 4 in 10 Julius Peppers .64, 8 in 12 Simeon Rice .70, 8 in 13 John Abraham .69, 8 in 14 Strahan .65, 6 in 15 Rice was the MUCH better pass rusher, not even close. and that doesn't happen on the other side?
