I didn't watch Strahan's speech, couldn't watch an undeserving guy getting that honor.

Overrated? Yes. Undeserving of the sack record? Yes. Undeserving of the PFHOF? No way.

Undeserving of a first ballot induction? YES.

I don't have an issue with him being inducted. But I would have shit all over him if he got in the first time.

He likely only got in this early because of his extremely successful TV career.

It's not baseball, people don't give a crap about whether you're a 'first-ballot' guy or not cause so many guys get in every year anyway.

I was wondering what happened with Curtis after the thread got bumped.

good/very good player. had a couple of great years but that's not what the hall should be about.

if he doesn't become a media star he isn't in the Hall right now.

He was a failure as a RDE facing LTs, Sapp was right. I know other great pass rushers have played LDE BUT those guys have been dominant. Strahan had 6 DD sack seasons in 15 years. he was the leader of the 2 of the greatest chokes in playoff history('97 vs. Min, '02 at SF), he did help lead one of the greatest upsets but they had a million pass rushers on that team and they did it again a few years later without him.

he does not belong in the Hall, he's there b/c of that phony sack record and b/c regis Philbin retired.

I have seen people compare him to LT, seriously. why? b/c they just look at sack #s, he had a long career and compiled some really good #s but he wasn't dominant. he was unworthy of enshrinement but they keep watering down the Hall.

Reed was a better WR than Strahan a pass rusher.

No way. Reed was never the best receiver in the league. Probably never top 5 either.

reed also always drew the top corner on the other side, Strahan drew inferior RTs. reed played In Jerry Rice's prime so obviously he was never the best WR in the league.

As a Jet fan watching him for years, I call false.

The dude was a bigger better Steve Smith.

Reed had four 1,000 yard seasons. And Reed lined up all over the field in a pass happy offense. His numbers are marginally better than the Houston guys and the Falcons. There are guys with more 1,000 yard seasons that wont sniff the HOF.

Andre Reed wasnt bigger or better than Steve Smith. Reed was pretty small/thin for a wide out.

Simeon Rice was the better pass-rusher in my opinion. That dude was a beast.

Whut? Reed had 4 inches on him and weighed about the same in a time when players were much much smaller. He was a physical, nasty receiver, much better than Steve Smith. Smith just has a d-bag personality so he gets credit for being mean.

I'd take Reed over Smith any day.

The Houston guys and Falcon guys that were in the run 'n shoot offense?

Buf passed a lot and threw short passes to Thurman a lot which was an extension of the run game.

    for example: 1990
Buf was 24th in pass attempts, Hou was 1st

    rest of his career:

    1985 11th
    1986 19th
1987- removed b/c I didn't feel like combing through to take out replacement stats
    1988 23rd
    1989 21st
    1990 24th
    1991 5th
    1992 8th
    1993 18th
    1994 12th
    1995 hurt
    1996 25th
    1997 11th
    1998 28th
    1999 24th

ONE time in his career Buf was top 10 in pass attempts. There goes that theory.

I don't even think it was close, Rice was the far superior pass rusher.

Gary Clark, Jimmy Smith, Andre Rison... Those are guys I put in Reeds class.

Smith was probably better actually. Rison is close.

Reed was a great receiver. I hate Buffalo as much as anyone but that guy deserved to be in the hall. He got overshadowed by a lot of the bigger names on those 90s Bills but he was a hall of fame receiver. He was a driving force in that offense with his ability to go across the middle. He wasn't a product of the system, he was a major reason that system existed. He was clutch as well and played better than any of those HOF bills did in the playoffs.

    You are being crazy,trip
