Decent hands? Seriously bro? The kid catches balls with his knees and stomach. His hands are shit. Stop making excuses.
I disagree in that I think his hands are not NFL caliber. He has yet to show he can grab a ball near his torso with his hands and make a move. He prefers to body catch whenever possible, which screams average receiver. Add in his drops, and I just don't think the ceiling is there to warrant a long term roster spot. I see him making the squad this year, having some decent games but no real improvement, and Idzik not re upping him next season to make way for either a FA, a new draft prospect, or a practices quad guy.
I'm guessing your mind is on the Patriots drop and the Patriots drop alone. The guy doesn't drop that many passes. His hands aren't great but they are decent. Hill has plenty of other issues to work on. You are going to last a long time on this forum with this mindset btw.
I don't want to look like I am defending Stephen Hill, but if you are going to hate on him, hate on the reasons why he ACTUALLY SUCKS.
Technically you are right, his hands might not suck but he refuses to use them. He catches everything with his body and there's really no debating that.
A day in the life of Stephen Hill: http://www.nj.com/jets/index.ssf/20...s_aches_miscommunication_with_geno_smith.html
I'm not disagreeing with you in regards to his ability to catch the ball btw. There's more glaring issues to me. Let's talk about his 6'4 height and why he's never a red zone target? He doesn't show any ability to go up for the ball Let's talk about him never going over the middle - he doesn't show the physicality you want with that size. I hope honest to God he proves me wrong, because if he can play up to 50% of his potential he would be a great addition for us, and I will be very happy for Stephen Hill to get his redemption. I really hate how they do this.
Id like to see Hill have a breakout year I really would, but right now I feel like you have a better chance at winning mega millions while being struck by lighting then seeing that
They were showing Stephen Hill footage from practice on SNY the other day and I shit you not he didn't catch a single pass cleanly. He caught them all, but had to put forth a second effort to secure every single one.
Eventually this will happen ... 8:00 PM - Stephen Hill seems to have a strong itch on his backside. He looks to be crying, is it happiness or is it pain? 8:01:59 PM - Stephen Hill continues to have issues getting rid of the itch, he appears to be struggling. 8:05 PM - Stephen Hill attempts to pick up the back-scratcher only to drop it. It landed on his toe and now he's looking for a bandaid.
LOL, I assume you're talking about the part where he rubbed his hip with his right thumb. It was a badly written log of events, that's for sure, but it's nice to get the flow of practice in a timeline like that.
Some good route running footage from Hill. Let's hope to see this in a game time situation http://www.newyorkjets.com/videos/v...hen-Hill/6760b684-7a10-4f4b-9140-03c156f877db
