Well, technically, he was always saying the same thing "understand it's not acceptable, need to improve, will give all effort" in the last 1.5-2 years.
The worst part about Jets fans' handling of Mark Sanchez is they WILL NOT give him credit for the 4 playoff wins and 2 AFC Championship games, but they WILL give him credit for the (8-8) and (6-10) seasons. It just makes no sense. I wish him well and will still follow his career as an Eagle in 2014 and hopefully as a starter of a new team in 2015.
Dont worry, all the assholes are either going to have to boycott the Super Bowl one day or watch Mark Sanchez win a Super Bowl (and ill be cheering for him).
He never had a "normal career" either. He was thrown into a title contender team as a rookie, then he was expected to win the Super Bowl in his second year. The third year he did come apart but the Jets realistically were not going to make three straight championship games, we knew that in the offseason. The fourth year they gave him quite possibly the worst offensive unit we have seen in the NFL in a decade, and he was expected to win. For the first time in Marks career he has very little pressure on him, none. He will finally understand how 99% of all NFL QB in the history of the NFL felt when they first stepped on the field. Allow him to get groomed properly by a real offensive coach for the first time.
I think the credit goes to the 2009 - 2010 NYJs more-so then just Mark Sanchez. You cannot give him all of the credit. I always give credit Mark for performing well from the end of his rookie year, through the 2010 season up until the Tebow game in 2011. He was on the right path. I will follow his career as well.
Yeah, that is my point though. You can't credit him by himself for the success of 09-10 just like you can't credit him by himself for the failures of 2011-12. Yet fans do for some reason.
Exactly, the Jets went as the roster went, it never went as Sanchez went. Seriously rank the rosters outside of Mark Sanchez. If Sanchez was given the appropriate roster in 2011 and 2012 the Jets would have made the playoffs. This whole idea that a QB should be able to carry a team is asinine, perfect example: Giants and Steelers. You notice the Giants and Steelers didn't go anywhere when the rosters were downgraded, they never went as the QB went, they went as the rosters went. Same applies for Sanchez. If Eli or Ben was on the Jets during that time period, they would have probably made the playoffs in 2009, 2010 but likely would have missed it in 2011 and definitely 2012. This even applies for Peyton Manning, 2009 the Colts were loaded, they get the #1 seed. 2010 the roster downgraded and the Colts barely got in the playoffs and got bounced in the first round. What a concept that is though; when you have a good roster, you win, when you don't, you lose, and this applies to all QBs including 2x Super Bowl winning QBs. I guess for Sanchez haters this concept is difficult to understand.
Was that wrong? Did he ever throw a teammate under the bus? Did he ever throw Tanny under the bus for subtracting rather than adding talent? Did he throw Rex under the bus for Sparano? No, he always said the right thing about his teammates, his coaches, the fans, the town, this franchise. _
Yeah it's a very valid point. I think fans need to understand the team as a whole in regards to the 2011-2012 seasons. Unfortunately, he's the easiest guy to blame because he was the QB. Mark's legacy with the Jets at the end of the day will be nothing more than an experimental phase (of things to do wrong). Everything they did wrong in regards to developing a QB they did wrong with Mark. Appears they have learned a lot since then because they are trying their hardest to make Geno Smith the man. Shame because I thought Mark could have been a good QB for us - I think going forward that fiasco will help the Jets.
And speaking of that, he was given the worst offensive unit in 2012 that we had seen in probably a decade. Not once did he bitch about it, and honestly I believe he had every right to. (I recall people in the media suggesting he ask for a trade out but he tried to play through it but he was obviously screwed from day one and the whole fucking world knew it, yet Jet fans bitched about him in 2012)
Yeah special teams. Or if you know they offense didn't stall leading to a FG try. Team effort. Everyone forgets football is a team sport because the regular season allows the great teams to hide their teams weaknesses.
Yeah every piece of the 2010-2011 fit into that team perfectly. Besides Revis and maybe Mangold, it's hard to say we had someone in the top 5 at their position, but the team came together very well. They all just decided to take a collective nap for 30 minutes in the AFC championship game. It happened before in the regular season too, just easier to overlook with 11 wins. It happens. It's why football is entertaining, one bad game and you're done, no best of 7
Mark Sanchez has experienced absolutely zero in terms of what Philly fans are. And he probably never will, unless the first 2 QBs they have on their roster get hurt.
If Sanchez felt he was an unworthy 5th overall pick. Then he should've took less money. Did he do that? You can attack this issue so many ways. The FO shouldn't have drafted him at all I agree. But being drafted that high comes with responsibilities. You can't accept the perks but don't want to take the heat for the negatives that comes with it.
I'm not disagreeing re Mark's attitude, just pointing out he was somewhat repetitive. Not blaming him either -- it's kind of hard to try to come up with different reasons for poor performance week after week. I used to have a scratched 45 that was excellent at doing it.
Why should he take less money if nobody ask him? I do know he re did has contract at least once. I know that not a pay cut but a lot of players won't do that.
If you cant give credit to Sanchez for the teams success, then you cant give him the blame for for the teams failure.
Conversely, if you are giving him credit for team success, you must give him blame for team's failures.
