Meh, he'll be back to play in time for the season. It's a concussion, not a torn ACL. Sucks but it's not the super terrible news everyone is making it out to be.
not as bad as an acl but these things are usually cumulative and guys that get them tend to be more prone to future concussions. Add in the fact that he's a big hitter and it's reason for concern especially considering the league is severely cracking down on not allowing concussed players to play. hopefully it's just a blip on the radar
If anyone wants to hear Rex mic'd up, check this out. This is awesome! http://www.newyorkjets.com/videos/videos/Mic’d-Up-Rex-Ryan/6ef26a97-a08f-452c-b4a0-7f195d730193
Just curious if anyone knows NFL concussion policy, and could estimate when Pryor could return to camp
sweet...just saw this on my FB feed and came here to post it. Love his talk to Davis at the beginning.
I'm so friggin tired of this bullshit argument that Rex is only loyal to vets. That shit was debunked multiple times already. It's a Rex myth. He'll play whoever looks the best at the spot. Obviously if they both outplay Colon, they will start, but Colon has been hurt, so they aren't going to just magically determine that before he even comes back and plays a bit.
I think the media is spending too much time dwelling on drops by the WRs. If it's a whole practice where everybody is dropping everything or if one guy just can't seem to make a catch..fine. But the tally sheet for every guy is a bit much. Anyone who has attended TC knows that everybody has drops..even guys like Chrebet,Keyshawn, etc. Hill is a perfect example. He's had maybe 1 drop every practice..but everything I've read suggests he's been making alot of big plays at every session & looks to be vastly improved. But what do you think people are focusing on? That one irrelevant drop. Evans is another story. He's had quite a few drops in every session dating back to mini camp.He needs to a drop-free day in the worst of ways or he is in major trouble.
My impressions so far.... Our top two picks are already injured and it sucks. But all hope is not lost Aboushi may bolster our line and give us depth as he is reportedly impressing and was able to handle Richardson 1 on 1 Sudfeld had a good day and we're gonna need him if Amaro is shaky/injured Geno is picking his spots for long runs. He needs to keep at it Shaq Evans is dropping balls because this is the first time he's practicing with NFL caliber players. He missed spring practices to finish his degree. Let's hope he figures it out Jacoby Ford might surprise us and help us immensely on special teams
Coaches hate it when players can't show up for mini camps b/c of school finals. Players on the bubble coming from one of those schools may not even get drafted because of it. Sucks for Evans that he's missed so much of the early camp stuff.
My impressions through camp thus far: This team has a lot more depth than I thought going into camp with the offense actually holding its own in several positions (QB, WR and O-line) specifically and some of the defensive rookies may make a splash sooner than expected. WR - Decker is everything advertised and more, Kerley and Nelson are locks to make the roster. Think we can backfill the group with Hill, Saunders, Ford which will provide a good combo of height, quickness and speed. Hill by most accounts is having a good camp - I am cautiously optimistic here with the hope that Decker can have a +ve impact on him as well. I think Enunwa being hurt doesn't help his case and Evans has issues with drops. I don't think Evans issues are just related to joining camp late - it was part of his scouting report in college that he dropped easy catches at time due to concentration issues, and I fear the last 2 draft pick WRs might not make the roster. Salas is having a good camp and I see him as a dark horse but don't think he adds enough on special teams. I don't think Hakim and/or Gates makes the roster. Gates is having a good camp but I hope we have enough ahead of him. TEs - I don't think Amaro is going to have the impact early on that people are expecting in the year - the playbook is complex and he seems to have consistent issues with drops. Unfortunately there hasn't been much on Cumberland (obviously he missed first day) but was hoping that he would catch eyes with his play given his measurables and him being the most veteran player on the team. That said, Sudfeld might be a sleeper here given his height and hands. O-Line - I still have some concerns here but I think with Colon healthy now, the biggest incremental from camp is Aboushi which could either push Colon or even Winters for a spot if he continues his strong play. Aboushi having starting caliber quality really puts the heat on Winters and makes the guard play less concerning. QBs - All the notes on both Geno and Vick have been pretty positive. I hear Geno is doing a better job with reads and knowing when to pull down and run. Vick is slinging it and provides the best backup (or potential starting) quality QB we have had in a while. D-Backs - Millner despite his comments still worries me, a lot. I hope he steps it up because we play some brutal WRs/QBs early. On the other side, McDougal may end up being a starer by week 1 (I know that sounds crazy but he may have the highest impact of the defensive rookies).l Linebackers - Obviously not having a pass rusher has been an issue for this team but seems like Coples is stepping up, we've added Babin who could have a field day behind this line and Reilly/ Ik are stepping up. I haven't heard much from Jermaine Cunningham flashing yet which is a bit disappointing.
Not that I'd hope for an ACL tear instead, but at least there's some definitiveness to it: Guy blows out knee, it gets repaired, he rehabs, there's a timetable, and with today's modern science, he's able to bounce back while he's still young. Not always, but the success rate for knee repairs seems higher than ever. With a concussion, it's less definitive. What "grade" is the concussion? Is he now prone to them? When will he really be all better from this one? Will he hide his next one from the staff? All of these aren't issues, but they can be with concussions. I'm excited to have Pryor in our Secondary, so I really hope it's just a blip.
