I think we'd win the AFC East if we had Revis.. We probably won't without him. We should have went after him he's still better than anything we got including a delusional Dee Milliner who thinks he's the best corner in the NFL.
He's a "me first" jackass and the team is better without him. Exactly the type of cancer that ruins good teams.
Blowing 10+M on CB = colossal stupidity. The ONLY position where you can make sense out of 10+M salary is the QB - as he can elevate the playing level of the ENTIRE OFFENSE. CB? Not a chance. Ask Coughlin how many shut-down corner he had to have to win 2 SBs. He will tell you 'exactly zero.'
I guess the Patriots' FO is colossally stupid then and have no idea what they're doing. They should hire you as GM IMMEDIATELY!! BTW, I sent Coach Coughlin a text asking him about the importance of having shutdown corners. He just texted me back saying that the better and more unstoppable your pass rush, the less pressure on and need to have top CBs. Strange how that works. Maybe you can explain it to me....
Since the league took away their opposing-sideline video camera, they've got the same amount of championships as we do ... only they have a HOF QB and we've arguably had the worst starting quarterbacks in the league over the same time period. Take Brady away from them and the Pats FO is league-average or worse.
I loved Revis when he was here and unlike alot of Jets fans I don't have any hard feelings towards him at all. The NFL is a business and Revis wanted to get payed. To get payed he took a stupid contract with the Bucs with no guaranteed money and then just took an equally stupid contract with the Patriots that is a 100% lock that he will be cut after the year is over. It's completely frontloaded and they would have to have Revis count somewhere in the 25 million dollar range if they keep him in 2014...the bottom line is that he is a rental. I'm calling them stupid contracts because he is risking a whole lot of money in case he suffers an awful injury instead of taking guaranteed money. That being said the Jets absolutely did the right thing by not going after him again. Paying any corner 16 million a year is a massive waste of resources, just look at the Bucs. They essentially traded Revis for Micheal Johnson and Verner. They downgrade a little at the CB position but with the extra cash they pick up a stud D-Lineman. The combined impact of those 2 will far outweigh the impact that Revis would have made on his own. Now shift to the Jets and Revis would have cost more then Eric Decker and Chris Johnson combined. I'm sorry but if you would rather have a guy that prevents opponents from gaining about 500 yards per season more then his replacement instead of 2 offensive players that will bring in potentially 2000+ yards of production at a higher cost then you are insane.
Unless NE is getting 09/10 Revis, I don't give a squirt of piss that he's there. Fairly confident they arent. Fuck Ty Law too that dickstain.
Revis would be holding out right now if he were in Wilkersons position and he would have no problem holding that over the team into the season. There is no comparison. If you don't see how Revis is a me player I can't help you. We will agree to disagree.
I think revis will do a lebron next year coming back to us for 10 m a year for 4 years to retire as a jet.
I don't think he's ever coming back and that's due to one reason: The Jets front office doesn't want him back. It is clear that Revis wanted to rejoin Rex and Co., but it also very clear that Idzik and Woody wanted no part of him. If it was up to Revis, he'd be back next year, but it's not up to Revis.
Revis is Foxboro. Massachusetts and the Jets are in Cortland, New York, period. Yeah I'll be watching to see if Revis is still 2009 Revis, but I'm 10x more interested in how Milliner & the JETS are shaping up.
Fair enough. However, you never explained what you would have done differently were you in Revis' shoes.......
I don't blame Revis for caring more about money than whatever team he happens to be on and being a me first player. That's his prerogative. He has a limited window to make his money.
Understood. Still curious what you would have done if you were Revis. It goes without saying that you don't have to answer that question if you don't want to (which it seems you don't seeing how this is the third time I'm asking it ).
Look - I can sit here on my computer and say I'd be the team first guy and deal with my contract when the time came without being a distraction to my team but until I'm wearing the shoes of Revis I cannot truthfully answer that question. So to answer the question, IMO, is pointless. As a fan, I see Revis as a me first player because his decisions are clearly based first and foremost on him collecting as much money as possible. You seem to think he's just doing what any other player in his position would do, but I can point out many examples of other players who are the best at their position not acting like Revis. He is the exception here ... we aren't talking about just one holdout.
Wow! How do you know Tom Coughlin? I guess in a perfect world you have a great pass rush and shutdown corners, but if you have one, I guess the other becomes less critical. Hopefully our pass rush will be "unstoppable" this year.
The only reason people are so upset with Revis is because who he signed with. If our CB this season suck these same people who is dogging Revis is going to wish he was on the Jets. It fucking stupid for at least not talk to Revis camp. His last 2 contracts he had you could cut him very easy well not losing anything.
