Oh I apologize, because you feel the position is made for a "schmuck tail end" player. I guess you're the one who makes decisions as to the "types" of players that play certain positions. Should have known better.
so you have no counter argument to the points being made. I accept your surrender in this discussion and look forward to you vehemently defending every decision rex and the jets make in the future. good day sir.
You know it's really bad when these moron beat writers are agreeing that Rex was not wrong about this, but yet members on here are saying he is. Damn, I thought Cimini and Mehta were bad.
Didn't you know the Rex and the Jets do no wrong? You can't criticize them with all those division titles and Super Bowls they have. Look, I'm really optimistic about this season too, but some posters lose their shit if you say anything negative about them.
I think it's a legitimate argument to bring up, but someone has to play that position and it wasn't even a game. It kind of reminds me of how Gronk was hurt during an extra point and there was discussion about that whole idea of starters on ST. Always going to be a discussion around it when something bad happens. Bill Belichick said something like: tell me who's going to get hurt and I'll pull them from the game. It's football and these are football players. It stinks what happens, and I do think it is a legitimate discussion to look at leaving top players or valuable players on the field for extra possessions, but I'm on the other side thinking someone has to play the position. It's not a 1 to 1 comparison between Gronk's situation and Pryor's, but I think it's similar enough to draw the comparison.
Exactly, and this was the first practice in pads, which players are not allowed to tackle to the ground at full force. It was an unfortunate situation, but to blame Rex for this is ridiculous.
Okay, Rex is an idiot for sticking with Sanchez at QB, running the wildcat, making SB predictions every year , getting that tattoo of his wife with Sanchez jersey on his arm, etc, etc, etc....., but he is not in the wrong by putting Pryor out there on special teams. Putting Tebow on ST was worse than that.
I think tomorrow we ought to throw decker in at personal punt protector. someone has to do it and Pryor is hurt.
Well that would actually be something different. A rookie safety in one of his first official practices is at punt protector isn't anything unusual. A WR would be different. Not really comparable.
I doubt many first round safeties are playing personal punt protector in practice but I have no way of knowing. even if it is normal I think it's a retarded decision. put a useless player like tebow there like they do in the regular season when there's only a 53 man roster.
Nope, just an idiot, just like the OP who constantly makes some of the worst threads I've ever seen on here. OMG Punt protector is totally a myth, our head coach is just stooopid!
did someone actually argue that the position didn't exist or was that just your retarded interpretation?
Yes. The OP and the guy that responded to him saying Rex was an idiot. They suggested the position didn't matter. People are just criticizing because it's something to criticize. Clinton-Dix will surely be playing special teams with Green Bay. Just sayin. If Pryor is big and can hit hard, it's a good fit. Revis played special teams when he was here. Nobody is exempt except maybe the starting QB.
That's not true. If Geno was a 6th round pick last year. You still think he would be given the starting job this season after the way he performed last year? Would milliner been given so many opportunities last year I he was a late round pick and not the first? Draft position plays a HUGE role in how a player is handled and treated.
Yeah it's stupid when RR uses starters on specials and they get hurt but it's genius when Belidouche uses starters on specials and they make plays right?
Pryor's value is on the giving end of hits not on the receiving end. Love Rex but feel the move's a little iffy. I'd put a reserve LB back there, stout enough to trade blows and with enough mobility to square off in protecting whatever gap's been breeched. jmho.
I personally don't think rex is an idiot. I think it's a poor decision to put an important player in as personal punt protector due to the nature of the position. I also think rex has a bit of a history of putting importent players at risk when it's not a smart idea. Hopefully he doesn't use Decker as a tackling dummy today
