EDMOND, Okla. – A former Oklahoma State University football star found himself on the wrong side of the law on Wednesday.

According to officials with the Edmond Police Department, Justin Blackmon was arrested for possession of marijuana on Wednesday.

Blackmon was a star wide receiver for OSU before being drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2012.

Last season, he was suspended from the NFL team for multiple violations of the NFL’s substance-abuse policy.

I'm just glad the Jets never ended up reaching for this guy or Josh Gordon. That would have been a mistake of epic proportions.

Has he had any actual problems? Seriously the NFL is going off the deep end with horrible punishments. I get that weed is still for the most part illegal, but you can't tell me him toking up would affect his game in any way. I know he had or maybe has a bit of a drinking problem too, which is more serious, but come on I mean the guy isn't going out and Ray Ricing or anything.

No matter what most may think about weed it is still illegal in most places in the U.S., it is also not so much the marijuana arrest but the fact that he is under suspension already for violating the leagues substance abuse policy and he continues to go out and get caught with more weed. Once the league says they are not going to test for it anymore these guys can go blaze all they want but until that time they need to obey the rules of the league that pays them millions.

I know right. Poor Michael Phelps, he might have actually won a gold medal or two if he didn't sit around taking giant bong rips all day every day.

The Olympic committee only checks for PED's. Apples to Oranges.

If you ask 20 year old past me, yes. Present me, no.

It says less about athletes who smoke and more about our ridiculous fucked up backward society that a consenting sane adult isn't allowed to put whatever they want into their body as long as it doesn't affect anyone but theirself. Let alone an unadulterated natural plant straight out of the earth.

I don't think smoking weed is that big of a deal. But your job states that smoking weed is against the rules. So if I'm making millions I'd give up weed in a heartbeat.

I get it, just saying I blame the fucked up rules more than I blame some athlete that doesn't feel like giving it up on this particular issue. Cocaine starts out natural but it gets chemically concentrated and can send just about anybody's behavior over the line. Weed, sure it might make your brain a little hazier and less motivated but these are highly motivated athletes to begin with. The worst that's going to happen is they don't quite reach their full potential because of smoking weed, so all that happens is they make millions of dollars instead of millions of extra dollars on their contracts.

If someone's behavior starts getting crazy and they do bad shit then in those instances the other behavior should be punished sternly, not the pot smoking.
