Best part is the balance I read about Both the offense and defense has their moments which is much better than hearing about how the defense owned the offense 99% of the practice
Tanny was fired because his GM philosophy was high risk high reward and the rewards only showed up for a couple of years. Then his risks stopped paying off, and the team collapsed.
Not making any long term observations, just 1 day. I love Idzik's philosophy but I think Mike would have succeeded again had he stayed on. There are many ways to build a team and the cap problems were very overblown, it was an easy fix. w/ Mike we would have blown through most of the cap room again where idzik keeps that flexibility.
Tannenbaum was never a football guy, he was a negotiator. He always had an Asst GM helping him make football decisions. When it was Bradway, during the Mangini years, his gambles were low risk. As soon as they hired Cohen, his strategies shifted drastically, it's like we had hired a new GM. The Jets needed a football guy making the decisions, not a contract lawyer who was a marionette for a football guy who was actually making the decisions. Hopefully Idzik is the perfect hire, and not a mistake in a string of mistakes.
Just wanted to give you all a heads up.. I won't be around tomorrow to give training camp updates, as it is my sons birthday. So if anybody would like to take over for Saturdays practice, feel free... I will be posting updates for today though as I am working from home again.

Tell your son Happy Birthday from all of us. I was hoping those child toys in the background of your sub picture weren't yours.

Dude, this season feels like 09 and 10, I'm really getting pumped. I don't know if we'll get to the conference game again, but this is exciting.
The potential to get back to the Top 5 in the AFC is there.. Just a matter of putting it all together..
Chris Lopresti @CLoprestiWFAN 1m Jason Babin listed on today's roster as No. 58. Expected to make his #NYJ training camp debut.
It really does. Explosive backs, talented receivers, elite defense. All we need to hope for is good QB play. Very similar to those years.
I think you're getting ahead of yourself with elite defense. We have too much youth and inexperience in the secondary to expect that kind of output. I think that the front end will be able to stifle mid and lower tier offenses, but we face too many smart QBs this year to expect the D-backs to hold things down that well. It'll be a balancing game that Geno/Vick can either make or break.
Chris Lopresti @CLoprestiWFAN 1m I miss watching Kellen Winslow Jr. bike out to the practice field like the Wicked Witch of the West. #NYJ
I think they can be elite this season. The only question mark is the secondary, which could be a lot better than we all think. Adding Pryor back there will do wonders in helping keep the ball in front. The defensive line will only get better, and with the addition of Babin and Barnes, the pass rush should be very strong. If we just got average play at corner, this defense could be elite. Now, there's a lot of "if's" in this theory, but I can definitely see it happening. If Milliner can play like he did the last part of the season last year and Patterson stays healthy, that's all we would need to be at the top.
I am always an optimist but after a year and a half of Idzik I really think we have the right guy but time will tell.
