Actually there is a report that they did offer him, I have to trust it because its coming from a credible source. If its fake, then its poor journalism. Not sure how anyone can say the Cavaliers have been run well, they had Lebron and they lost him the first time. They never won, never put the guys around him, etc. They are one of the worst run franchises but have been bailed about by the lottery. Im not sure the Cavs can screw this up now, but then again, it is the Cavs so it wouldnt shock me if they continue to make more mistakes.
That's fine, like I said you can believe what you want, but you keep preaching about the past. They have a new GM and a new Head Coach and frankly, LeBron James decided to return to his home in Cleveland. I could give a shit how poorly they were run in the past. It's a new time with new faces and a much improved and matured LeBron James. Instead of dwelling on past shit, why don't we let it play out and see how it all unravels? Again, calling a franchise stupid because of "reports" you choose to believe is ridiculous. What makes your reports right and the rest wrong? Because you feel the source is credible? If you're referring to them being a stupid franchise because of their past, that's fine, but are you seriously still discussing what is years ago?
Its not bad now, they have a loaded roster, they are still run by clueless people that really just lucked their way into where they are now. They had Lebron once and they blew it when it came to winning titles, it will be hard for them to blow it again, even if they are clueless. Im not sure anyone on this planet could screw this up now, they are loaded everywhere.
Cavs will offer Wiggins if the deal is right? The deal if for Kevin Love. Either the Cavs offer him or they don't. If the Wolves are set in stone on having Wiggins, the Cavs should just wait to see if the Wolves panic. The downside to that strategy is if Love and the Wolves are playing good, the Wolves might just ride out the whole year with him. Gamble either way
They are not set in stone though, they dont hold the leverage. They just dont. Unless love commits to another team the Twolves have to take what they can get.
That is the only other thing that can happen. The Twolves would have to be top team for them to hold on. If they are in like the 8 seed, I think they would just trade him away.
Yeah but right now I don't think Wolves have to worry about Love walking really, right? It's the trade deadline that could lead to lesser offers
The Wolves goal is to get as much as possible. They can do that if they can get two teams into a bidding war. Right now the Cavaliers are the only trade partner. The Warriors are not a real threat unless Love resigns. Trading for a player on an expiring contract is risky, so I dont see a team risking it. Look at Dwight Howard, Lakers risked it by trading for him, they couldnt convince him to resign. No offense to Kevin Love either but I dont see a team breaking the bank for him, if this was like Kevin Durant or Lebron James then yeah it might be worth the risk (in hopes you can convince him to stay), but this is Kevin Love we are talking about.
If Wiggins name is being thrown around right now its being driven by Lebron James and his crew. Lebron would want Love in camp before the season rather than making the trade halfway through, unfortunately what Lebron doesnt realize is the Cavaliers dont even have to give up Wiggins but thats why Lebrons not a GM (and looks like he would be another Jordan type GM if he was one....)
Do you think any team would trade for Love without the max extension being signed? My thinking was the Cavs and Warriors are talking trades in the assumption that if they get a deal with Minny hammered out, it would be on the condition that Love then signs the max with them. I'm not sure how it exactly takes place, if Love would sign with Minny then get traded or get traded then instantly sign the contract, but my thinking would be that would be a condition of the trade. That's how Love can control where he goes. Lets pretend Love decided he doesn't want to play in GS for whatever reason, by saying he won't sign and still test FA, my guess is GS would just not trade for him. So the fact that they are in rumors makes me believe Love hasn't ruled them out. You do bring up an interesting point that the Cavs and Warriors are struggling with, how good is Kevin Love? His defense is non existent. It seems he gives up defensively early to get into good rebound position. His team has never made the playoffs with him. On the other hand, he is clearly an all star, it's hard to say he has a good FO helping him out, and he has a PG who cannot shoot. He also did this "The list of players who have scored more than 2,000 points, grabbed more than 950 rebounds, and dished more than 300 assists in one season is as follows: Kareem six times (1969-70, 1971-72, 1972-73, 1973-74, 1975-76, 1976-77), Wilt Chamberlain twice (1963-64, 1965-66), Elgin Baylor twice (1960-61, 1962-63), Oscar Robertson (1961-62), Bob McAdoo (1975-76), Billy Cunningham (1969-70), Charles Barkley (1988-89), and Tim Duncan (2001-02). I’d call that good company." http://grantland.com/the-triangle/the-would-you-trade-wiggins-for-love-shootaround/ That's why it's so hard to judge Love. We had players like Love before, similar scenarios, players who are definitely good but where's the playoffs success or even the appearances. We've had great players who can make the playoffs but then don't have success. That's okay, you know they are good enough to carry their team that far. Love hasn't show that yet. Very tough player to judge. You see him on something like the Olympic team though and you just wonder, pair him with another star and that offense should be almost impossible to defend. Then it comes back to defense. Which is why the Warriors are hesitating
I dont know if the Warriors are interested, I dont know if Kevin Love is interested in the Warriors. If im Kevin Love, im trying to get aboard Cleveland, they can pay him the money, they can offer him a chance to win championships, etc. Im not a big Kevin Love guy either, he plays offense on a LOSING team. He puts up big numbers but his team has not won, which gives me the right to question if his numbers are inflated. He's not a good defender either. He has gotten a lot of attention because next year the top guys are Aldridge, Rondo, Gasol, Love. If Love was in this years free agency, he probably wouldnt have gotten as much attention. Im suprised the Cavaliers dont want Marc Gasol? How much offense do they really need? Irving and Lebron alone will be a lot.
This starting lineup is more ideal imo: 1-Irving 2-Waiters 3-Wiggins 4-Lebron 5-Gasol over 1-Irving 2-Wiggins 3-Lebron 4-Love 5-Verajou
I think the Warriors are interested by worried about Love's defense and losing Klay's defense Well Love is more gettable right? Because if Love is traded you are just swapping salaries so they can take Love's salary. I don't think they would be able to pay Love or Gasol outright if they hit FA. At least not near the max or what they will get from other teams.
Lineup two wth Gasol is better, but lets not forget about age. Gasol is turning thiry next year, while Kevin Love hasn't even hit his prime yet. Three years from now when LeBron starts to decline, he will have Love, Kyrie, and possibly Wiggins to carry the load.
Now we have a report that Wiggins is getting signed this week which means they cant trade him for 30 days. So this whole Wiggins trade report must be dead for now, which makes sense obviously.
Love will be dealt at the trade deadline, more than likely. Reminds me of Melo's situation when he was with the Nuggets
