Has he laid a groundwork or simply failed to sign the free agents they wanted? And you're a snide little back-door weaselly poster. I don't know who the owner is so that's assertion is false.
Yeah, there a few good ones there. Denver's trying to extend Thomas and I'd be shocked to see Dez become available however Jones can't seem to free any cap room. On top of the space you mention, David Harris could free up more room.
You didn't answer any point I made. But yeah, I'm the weaselly poster. Hey new guy, get a fucking clue.
I like how half the teams he mentioned didn't do shit for their entire existence until landing their current QB's.
I think we need to give GeeeNooooo one more year, before we start going all Sanchise-lol on him... JMHO Sent from my Nokia Lumia 928 - Windows Phone 8.1 using Tapatalk
Maybe you should have found out who the owner was before you called him out in one of your posts. Just like when I told you that you should observe how the site is moderated before you start telling everyone how it should be run. And yes Idzik did lay out his philosophy on how he wants to build the team and aging, expensive players is not the way. I must say you certainly do throw around a lot of names while you continue to chide others for their unseemly behavior. Are you having problems at home causing you to be unbalanced? Maybe ask the doc to increase your lithium dose?
If Geno were in his 3-4th year, in the top 3rd+ of the league, and could actually get enough value out of Johnson to justify the money then yeah, go for it. But to pay a WR $10M to be over/under thrown and led into the teeth of a LB 3-4 times a game...meh...that's what we have Hill for.
Andre Johnson has had an amazing 11 year career with the Houston Texans, but we need to find our own Andre Johnson, not take somebody else's. There's a huge difference between "rebuilding" and "retooling". The latter is for teams stacked with vets who think they can win in the next 1-2 years, the former is for organizations who are trying to build their own brand of football for years to come. We've committed to rebuilding, and we can't change our minds now. Be patient, we're almost there.
This is an entirely reasonable point of view to have, but the problem with it is I don't think it is necessary to be so skeptical about the prospects for this season, IF the team were directed in a not very different, but somewhat different, way. The problem is the Jets do have a Qb on the roster who could get value out of Johnson, and that is Vick. If Vick was the starting Qb, with A Johnson, Decker and Kerley as his wideouts, with Ivory and C Johnson as the running backs, if the OL is decent, and if the Jets had a better #2 Cb, they could very well be a contender. I think they would be. The problem as I see it is that such decisions as not getting A Johnson, as you point out, look "reasonable" if one assumes instead of starting Vick that Smith is going to play. I trust you see my point.
If Hill could go over the middle he'd be a much better receiver. I've seen him go on a slant maybe 2 or 3 times in his career. He runs a deep post almost never. When he does get the ball in his vicinity in the middle of the field he has a strong tendency to drop it. Footsteps. Trying to run before the ball is secure. Etc. Outside the hash marks he's almost a passable receiver, inside them he is invisible.
Players like Andre Johnson come around once every 5 to 10 years. But your point is still valid. Continue to build via the draft.
Oh well... some supposed "Jets official" already said were not interested. We can go back to hoping one of the young guys are good.
Yes, I see your point. And I agree. If the Jets drop serious coin on Johnson then by all means Vick should start. But if Idzik is DETERMINED to continue Geno's development then it may be better to see how/if Geno progresses in season #2 with several new toys (Decker/CJ/Amaro) first. Let Geno 'earn' a franchise WR by showing marked improvement with the new kids on the block.
