I was trying to explain the odds by using an example. I should have said "if the Cavs are looked at as a lock" not that they are.

I think any team with Lebron is the odds on favorite to come out of the East but it certainly isn't a lock.

Was just setting it as an example.

    Just reported:

Jeremy Lin trade imminent now. Houston expecting Bosh for sure now.

Just totally disagree with that JS..and witout boring everyone again...why are they favorite over the Spurs. The decision on who is favorite it the final of course changes a bit from what you said..but its mostly on how they are playing going in. I mean...this is kind of nuts..but if a certain conference is so much stronger then another conference..they odds will not be spread evenly because of getting there. It does not work that way. In the times..and Im not being an asshole here..in the times when the American Leauge dominated the National Leauge in baseball...trust me, I know...the odds for the American league teams had 5 or 6 with higher odds to WIN the World Series then the second and third best team in the National League.

You have odds to get there...that determines strength of getting there..and you have odds of winning it. The second best team in the NFC will not have around the same odds at winning it all as the second best team in the AFC.

DUDE GIVE UP. Even in your own example you were wrong. You brought up the NFL, who was the FAVORITE all year last season? The Denver Broncos. The moment the Seahawks beat the 49ers, guess who was the favorite to win the Super Bowl? The Seahawks. (The line moved after the money came in, but Vegas's intitial favorite was the Seahawks, they had to to move the line though due to betting).

Just give up, you are wrong, and you made yourself look like fool when you brought up the NFL example.

    Jay

You know I am your biggest fan right? :) On this one, soxx and Stokes are right.

Name of the concept is "Conditional Probability"

Say there are 4 teams in West candidate for Finals. First leg of the probabibility is 1/4

Say Spurs plays Cavs again. They have a 3/4 chance to win right?

Overall, Spurs chances of winning is 1/4 times 3/4 equaling 3/16.

Any possibility above 75% you assign to Cavs making the Finals, will give you more overall Probability.

Sorry couldn't explain it good enough.

Because of the way the teams were playing at the time....brook even agrees with you guys... Ok...lol..I give up...but I promise this..this odds of probability and stuff...please find that on the interent and print that and prove that to me.

AGAIN..TO ALL OF YOU..FOR THE LAST TIME. If that's correct..then why when a certain league is stronger then the other league does the stronger league have more teams favored to win it higher then the other league..explain that to me and I will give u p.

Brook..no offense..but I have no idea in the world of GAMBLINIG you are talking about. None. If the NFC had all their teams..and the AFC had only the east...and the Patriots were just average...you guys are telling me that the top 6 teams to WIN...WIN the superbowl would be pretty much evenly split up even if the West had the top 4 teams. NOT to get to the finnls..which there are bets for...but to win it ...correct?

Hey dickhead (how is that for respect Brook?) Im trying to explain my point....I didn't start out disrespectful..and for reasons of following odds between leagues for years...I would never agree with your point...ever.

They aren't the favorites over the Spurs.

They are the favorite over the collective of the Spurs, OKC, Clippers, Rockets.

It's not a bet today as to whether the Cavs can beat the Spurs, they can't.

Is whether, on a statistical basis they can beat either the Spurs or OKC or the Clippers or the Rockets.

They probably can't beat any one of them but they can 100% beat three of them.

Because they won't be there. It's not about who they think is better individually.

Clearly all of those teams are better, but only one gets there. Therefore the Cazs odds get better because of the 0% chance for the other 3. It's a statistical analysis, not a basketball one.

Like the commercial says, you have to be in it to win it. If you're not in it, you can NOT win it.

Wayne, why do you think the Broncos were favorites ALL year yet when the NFC championship ended, the Seahawks were the favorite to win the Super Bowl?
