I'm not talking about the biggest loss or most important games. For me it was 2004 Jets vs Ravens: Jets were 6-2 at the time and had the Ravens on the rope early on with Quincy Carter playing QB. 14-0 and Jets with the ball and driving with a full head of steam (less than 2 minutes in the half). Paul Hackett inexplicably calls a half back pass from Lamont Jordan-Jordan inexplicably throws it up for grabs and it gets returned to for a touchdown by Ed Reed. I also vaguely remember some of the most boneheaded clock management in the history of the NFL by Herm Edwards in this game-We lost 20-17 in OT
My immediate thought was Giants vs Jets 2011. Unreal. Eli played a piss poor game, but a series of bad of events cost the Jets from the 99 yard TD, to the missed field goal before the half. Despite of all it, the Jets still had a chance to win the game at the end. That victor cruz play will forever piss me off because if he is tackle, the Giants have to punt out of the endzone, the Jets are going into the half up 7 or 11.
Game after 9-11 against 49'ers where Anthony Becht keep dropping TD passes in the endzone. We lost 19-17. It was my 1st jets game.
The Steelers AFC championship game. I don't recall screaming at my TV as much as I did during that one. After knocking out the Pats, we had all the momentum on our side and then just completely shit the bed in the first half, and then at the end when we completely blew that goal line sequence, I was ready to throw my TV on the floor. My living room was trashed with food and beer all over the place and I was the only one there!! Runner ups: Giants 2011, Broncos 2011, Packers 2010 (cuz of those bs interceptions)
This... The Gastineau roughing Kosar "86 play-off loss was a game which I never thought would be surpassed for anger inducing fury; It took 25 years but it was finally surpassed, for me, by the Christmas Eve Giants loss, a game we could've won; a game we lost thanks to missed tackle and a moronic OC. What was especially infuriating was having to cook Christmas Eve dinner for my visiting, gloating Giant fan family. In the fullness of time, I think the most galling aspect of this loss was the fact that the Giants used it as a springboard to the Super Bowl.
I was a hardcore mets fan growing up. Got more into football and less into baseball as I got older. My football rage moments pale in comparison to my baseball ones. Nothing compares to the agony of being a mets fan. Having a hard time remembering a game that pissed me off more than that Titans game where Sanchez hit rock bottom. Watching the broncos crush the falcons. Testaverde injury opening day was a soul crusher. I'm sure the old timers have some worse ones.
I've got 2 that stick out right away The 2011 Eagles game, we came in 8-5 and looking like AFC championship contenders for the 3rd straight year, and we got absolutely steamrolled, everything that could go wrong did go wrong. That was the most infuriated and embarrassed I've gotten over a game. Then the 2012 Titans game where we got mathematically eliminated from the playoffs. So much went terrible that day, but then we were gift wrapped an opportunity with that muffed punt with under a minute to go. Despite all the shit that happened, we had the ball on the 20, and we fumble the snap on the first play of the series. That's the loudest I've ever screamed over a game. Since then, I don't get mad when stuff goes wrong for us, I just laugh it off because I'm used to it.
I'll never forget that game. Stupid ass Mike Tirico was bad mouthing the Jets all game, and when they got that gift at the end, you could tell he was annoyed that they still had a chance, and then the second that fumble happened he gets so happy and says, "And the Jets season ends the way it SHOULD end. Turnover, embarrassment, LOSS!" I've hated him ever since.
First playoff game I went to and the Jets first since 1969, '81 wild card game against the Bills, Todd throws an INT on the 1 yard line with 2 seconds left. After fighting back from a 24-0 deficit got back to within 4 at 31-27 and would have won with a TD.
January 15th, 2005 - Divison playoff game vs. Pittsburgh Steelers I watched it at my grandparents' house with all my family...who are all Steelers fans. My aunt and I started getting pretty nasty with our arguing during the game. Doug Brien hits the upright with 1:58 left on the clock and my aunt went nuts. Then Big Ben threw a pick right after giving the Jets the ball back making me go nuts. On the final play of regulation time, Brien shanks it. Game goes to OT and Pittsburgh hits a FG 12 minutes into OT, sealing our fate. I flipped the hell out. My aunt was a smug prick about it.
Most Depressing? Loss to Cleveland in the 1986 playoffs Most Anger Inducing? Fake spike game in 1994 Single Angriest Moment in Time as a Jets fan? Halftime (and pretty much all of the third quarter) of the Monday Night Miracle
I didn't watch most of the game. I followed most of the first half on game cast and then decided to check it out when the score was like 30-7. I forget why I decided this but it really didn't look like the game was over. So I continued to watch. Great finish. It's a shame that we didn't make the playoffs that year. The bigger question is why are we responding to this hater's threads.
1998 AFC Championship Game- we had them 10-0, fumbles killed us, Vinny was hot that game too, all wasted, still haven't gotten over that game 1986 vs Browns, 10 point lead with 4 minutes left, game is over and moron Gastineau roughs Kosar
crap - too many close ones but here goes...... 1. 81-82 WC game against the bills and mud bowl, 82-83, nuff said. (both games were brutal losses, just brutal) 2. browns, div playoff, 85-86 (this game had all the trimmings that go with being a jet fan) 3. pats, 1999 opener - just look at the avatar. 4. fish, 1994 spike game 5. broncos 98-99 and steelers 10-11 AFC title games - nuff said 6. honorable mentions - few losses to the seahawks in the early 80's were infuriating, the 28-28 tie in miami in 81, pats WC game in 85, miami game in 86 (45-3 loss), lions game in 1997, ravens game at the end of 2000......etc etc etc.
