Glad this game is being played at Home. That really helps. The Raiders struggle on the East Coast anyway and it's always tough to win the opener on the road no matter who you are playing. I don't know how good the Raiders will be, but if this Jets team can't even open the season at home with a win vs. the Raiders, it will be tough to see them as a playoff team when it's all said and done. Those are games playoff teams don't lose.
Yeah I thought it was obvious that I was using satire but I guess not. "Trap game" and "must win" are some of the key catch phrases that many folks use throughout the season and they are hilarious. I don't think either is true of any game, but even so the season is the definition of all of the games as a whole. No game is a must win, unless it's the last game of the season and you're in a win and your in scenario at the time. But even so that could have been changed by winning a different game earlier in the year so it's all relative. I agree that "trap game" is a nonsensical term in the NFL today and the team obviously sees every game as a game they must win.
Havent read the whole thread..so I dont mean everybody here. But it kinda worries me that a lot of people have us going into Lambeau Week 2 at 1-0. Its def nice to get the Raiders at home Week 1 instead of the Seahawks on the road..that much is for sure. But the Jets as a favorite always gets me jumpy. If we lost that game everybody and their mother would have us starting the season 0-4.
I think that as long as Geno remembers to eat a hotdog during the game, we'll have no problem winning. Where Sanchez made his mistake was trying to be discrete about it, and then apologizing for it later on. He should have been bold, called over a sideline reporter, and said "Yeah, just so you guys know, I'm eating a hotdog. Get used to it." Geno needs to make a statement here by eating a hotdog immediately after kickoff. Don't wait till you're up 38-0 late in the game like Mark did. Rookie mistake. You gotta eat it right away to send a message, and get plenty of crumbs all over the football. The crumbs will form an adhesive layer that will allow him to get a better grip on the ball, thereby improving his passing accuracy. This is science.
Just a great post. Probably the most well thought out post i have seen in a long time. Took you awhile?
Yeah but if we're making predictions as fans--it's not outlandish to reason that since we beat them last year, we were probably a better team last year, we seemed to have improved at least slightly, it's a home game and they're travelling across the country. There are no gimme wins in the NFL but as of right now, that's got to be as close as it gets. I feel pretty good that we start out 1-0. _
I do too. That's what worries me. Plus I don't think the flying cross country thing really matters in Week 1. Oakland will get here with plenty of time to spare before that Sunday to get accustomed to the change. And by no means do I think we would lose that game by Oakland making us look bad. I think if we were to lose it would be because the Jets would look horrible.
Raiders are one of those teams that can never seem to make the right moves. Sure they signed a lot of guys but they are all old and worn out. They have a few interesting pieces but ultimately they will underperform. It should be a good game but i expect the jets to dominate defensively
I think we are a pretty liberal crowd here at TGG so you slurp or what ever else you want to do with a wiener.
