Why do you keep bringing up just the post-season? It's about the body of work as a whole. This doesn't matter because Greene against SD put the game away. When will you ever learn it's about the team and not just one player? You blame the entire D for losing games yet you don't mention the QB. This is the biggest example of hypocrisy I have ever seen. Put O'Brien on the 2009 Jets - maybe he doesn't throw INTs maybe he helps us get to the SB because you know he's a better passer then Mark Sanchez. The fact of the matter is you lied. It was 23-7 due to a fumble return for a TD.
The whole fish team finished poorly. I don't know that Tannehill should be singled out, or that we can say he finished poorly. Frankly the more I see of him the more I fear he's not only their best Qb since Marino, that not being a case of saying much, he might actualy become a good Qb.
I get what you are saying, but despite that I think O'Brien was a good Qb even by general NFL standards. Vinny had one great year for the Jets. I think we can say the same for Favre. but imo that was not enough to make either the best Jet Qb behind Namath. I think it was O'Brien. O'Brien's problem was he had, especially as time went on, so little pass protection, that he became gunshy in the face of the pass rush, which only encourage opponents to go after him even more. It was sad. Talk about projections, it is no leap of faith to conclude he would have done much better in the latter years if he'd had better protection all along. Imo most people who diss him never saw him play. those who did tend to appreciate him fairly highly.
he didn't put the game away as we had to run out the clock. postseason is huge but the same thing in the reg season. show me all the reg season games where our run game carried us? I haven never said mark was blames for our playoff losses, try actually reading rather than interpreting what you want to see. 2 playoff games the guy who didn't throw INTs threw 4 6 playoff games the guy who threw a lot threw 3 some guys can play on the big stage, some can't. the fact of the matter is you can't read. go back and read those Chad may be my all time favorite b/c he is such a great guy off the field as well as being a good player on it. It's Jet luck that he couldn't stay healthy.
what??? we can say the same for Favre? yeah he was great sabotaging our season and not even making the playoffs
I was sitting in lower bowl seats that first injury, remember it being a gorgeous night for presesaon football, and his hand got crunched pretty much right in front of us and I remember how crushed I was. I think that injury, the rotator cuff in 2004 and the Vinny injury were the three seasons I felt most confident about winning it all, only to have my hopes and dreams vanquished. _
We're prorating everything here. Favre was great for us until he got injured. And if we're just saying who's the best QB to suit up for the Jets it's Favre hands down.
Favre was never great for us, he was mostly bad actually. He had a really good 3-4 game stretch in November and couldn't sustain in dec collapsing in the cold. He sabotaged our season and we watched Chad take a 1 win team and win 11 games and a div title.
Incognito was playing at a fairly high level before his suspension. They didn't get better without him. Martin I can believe, not Incognito. I don't care what Wallace could have been on our team. That means nothing to me. I'm talking about where he ranks as a player, which has proven (in recent years) to be middle of the road. He's solid, not great, not bad. Same goes for Hartline, Gibson, and Clay. I don't care where they would have ranked on a poor offensive team like the 2013 Jets. That argument might have merit if I was comparing Geno to Tannehill. I'm not. How was Tannehill bad against us the first go around? Cause he missed one or two "big" throws. He also made a bunch of "big" throws as well in that game.
Agreed I like him more then any other QB they've had since Marino. I think he's going to be their guy for a while. I don't know if he's going to be great, average, slightly above average, or whatever, but being totally unbiased, I like what i've seen from him so far.
the dolphins OL got much better the 2nd half of the season. it was actually pretty good the 2nd half. Wallace is a good WR, he's not elite but he's a good one and if Tannehill could throw a decent deep ball he would have made a major impact last year. Tannehill was terrible against us the first game. he kept us in the game then threw 2 dumpoffs where Wallace and Hartline burned our DBs for TDs to make his #s look good. if a decent QB was playing for Miami the game would have been over by halftime.
to say you like him more than any QB since marino isn't saying much and at the moment he hasn't been as good as Fielder or Chad. he has ability, he has shown he can play in this league but he needs to get better quickly or he will be an ex-dolphin next year.
Chad played 1 full season for Miami. I wouldn't even consider him. It's still to early to compare him to anyone but if I had to pick between Fiedler or Tannehill at this moment i'm taking Tannehill no question.
Yeah, I don't count Chad because his one good year was overriden by how he left them high and dry getting hurt again, as i expected he would. China Dollington.
Fiedler was another one who got hurt all the time. He couldn't stay on the field. Plus he had an inordinate talent at hanging his receivers out to take the big hit.
Ryan has a higher upside w/o a doubt, he's still young but he had a huge advantage not having to learn a new system entering the NFL and they spent boatloads upgrading the weapons for year 2 and he still failed. I do think he can be a good QB, I don't think he's that far off but he wasn't good last year.
Um, no offense buddy, but you have posted similar arguments in the past pro rating stats to compare athletes who played different amount of seasons. How did I get killed? I posted objectively based on the factual statistics while Stokes just posted generalizations and insults. I know they don't tell the whole story, but you are honestly suggesting that Stokes is correct that a longer career with a certain team is automatically a better one, and averages mean nothing? I'm sorry, but as somebody that is a big debater and proponent of logic that makes no sense at all.
Still doesn't look at the entire body of work. Man people just never listen - that award fits you well indeed.
First of all the bar for Jets QBs is set really low. That's the primary reason Sanchez even comes semi-close to O'brien. The other part is post season success. But you are too stupid to understand what an average means, so it is what it is. QBs switch teams. It's part of reality. I never suggested that what Sanchez does on the Eagles counts toward his Jet career, are you fucking retarded? You are doing the typical idiot technicality lawyer act and only focusing on the one insignificant detail of the argument, repeating it constantly but ignoring the premise and main points completely. That is not logical at all. All I said was that Sanchez' career isn't over. He could be back in 5 years, and if so it would count toward that. I'm not saying that Sanchez will definitely put up those numbers in 5 years, I'm using it as reference point to compare the production of the 2 QBs evenly. Sorry if that is above your head. Maybe try learning math. Sanchez and Obrien's averages are close with the exception of turnovers. The only point that I've been making is that it is debatable. It isn't so cut and dry that O'brien is the 2nd best career Jet QB. But you seem like to create red herrings frequently in a pathetic attempt to change what I'm saying here. IMO, post season matters much more so than regular season. That's where you find out what your QB can really do, because the pressure is the highest and the weather is usually the worst. That's why I feel that overall Sanchez contributed more to the franchise. It's really personal opinion, but sure, keep on pretending that averages mean absolutely nothing. It's comical and you still haven't recovered from denying the importance of averages and passer rating and then citing the average passer rating for all Jet QBs to back it up. LMAO. I'd post a picture for ya, but you simply aren't worth the effort.
