Well, here's another variable, a new TV deal is coming up for the NBA in 2017 I think. So Wade's last year of the contract would be in that new TV deal. That new TV deal should raise the cap making Wade's cap hit much less than it would be now. It would also cover him contract wise through the probable lockout in 2017. I could have the years off, it might be 2016, but it's either 2016 or 2017. I was actually reading about that in terms with the Gortat contract. I called it bad, but some Washington blogs pointed out that it is very likely that his contract becomes less of burden because of the new deal.

I'll say this: If the reports are true that Carmelo wants to play with LeBron in New York and Phil Jackson is trying everything to bring him here, then here's what I see playing out: LeBron signs a two year deal with Miami with the ability to opt out after the first year. Carmelo signs a long term max deal with New York under Phil Jackson. In 2015, all the Knicks contracts are off the books and Phil Jackson has enough money to buy the world. Lebron opts out, signs with Carmelo in New York and there's money left over to sign supporting pieces. I can see this happening.
Yeah but they might have cleared out cap space elsewhere. It's a soft cap with Bird rights, a rising cap and other stuff I'm making up in my head, but it's certainly not the NFL. This is pretty accurate. Wade owns Miami. People like to say LeBron does, but Wade is what put Miami on the map originally. He was THE reason they won their first championship.

If it was Riley that told him to do it and he would be taken care of but doesnt? You are dead on....but if it was Wade doing it on his own to help the club get more pieces? Then we would have to agree that Bosh did the same right? If Bosh goes to Houston....hmmmm...you have to wonder what happened in that meeting they all had.

Yup Riley has spent some time making Miami into a organization that is a "family" and will be there for you. They pump that by showing how when players leave, they stay in different roles and how Spo worked his way up the ropes. They conveniently leave out SVG getting booted by resigning and what not, but Riley has created this image/aura whatever you want to call it and lowballing Wade would ruin it in one move. Players would notice, agents would notice.
