Miami never had a problem with Lebron while he was in Cleveland, right? Cleveland ran mostly into Boston and Orlando in the playoffs with I think some sprinkled stuff with the Wiz.
And anyone that thinks Wade will be as lucky as he was with injuries next year then he was this past year is nuts. For me? Wade is not even a reason for him to comeback, other then Lebron is willing to throw a season away and play with him again. And for all those that think its a lock that Lebron will sign with the Heat...simple question...why hasnt he. He probably will...but why hasnt he. Unless Riley is pulling Anthony out of his ass, would anyone here sign with the Heat?
First of all, I think the NBA is one of those sports where you CAN pay players for what they've done for you in the past, unlike other "what have you done for me lately" sports like the NFL with a hard cap. There is no other reason for Wade to have opted out if he didn't have assurances in place, and if he did and Riley screws him, he'll be done in the league as a GM. And I don't think Lebron thinks of Wade as anything more than a part time player that can open up some cap space by opting out. Just my opinion, have no idea. I just can't see Riley screwing the greatest Heat player of all time. _
It's not impossible, but it is not highly possible. First they need one team to take Amare plus Shump or THJ or a 1st round pick. Then they need another team to take Bargs plus something. Both these teams cannot send salary back to the Knicks in the trade. Then they would have space for Lebron and Melo. The first two things would be really tough to do, because you don't want to make the move to then have Lebron not come here. You would lose assets clearing the space which is worth it if Lebron shows up. If he doesn't, you gutted your team to trade two guys who are just going to be off the books next year anyways.
Get rid of Stoudemire, Bargnani, and probably Shumpert. Lebron and Melo take a slight paycut together, and bingo, Phil Jackson is a genius. Very hard but very possible.
All the Knicks have to do is trade their entire roster, and then make a new state of the art stadium, and convince 2 of the best 5 players in the world to play for less than what they said they would take, and BAM DONE DEAL! This is really happening!!! LOL pathetic.
Which is probably why there is a stand still with Melo and LeBron right now. There are teams lining up that would take Shumpert and Bargs. But like you said, he's not gonna trade them without a commitment from LeBron. The other option I'm reading is Melo would resign with New York and LeBron would sign a two year deal with Miami with the ability to opt out after one year. He then would be able to join Melo in New York with no pay cut next offseason.
Getting rid of Stat and Bargs and getting Lebron is not very possible. It can be done, but we'd have to trade to a team like the sixers
The Heat roster as presently constituted is still a better roster than the Knicks roster. That's what I was going to say, but I thought better of it until you goaded me. Damn you. And no, Wade is not a selling point. _
No one said it's happening lol It is being talked about and apparently Phil Jackson is trying to make it happen. No one is saying this is gonna happen.
I dont know JS...I dont know about the pay for the past stuff. Look at the Knicks? Look at some of the teams with this cap hell. Can you imagine 3 years from now having his 13 million still on the books? Listen, Im sure he does have assurances from Riley...but I just cant get past why these guys have not signed. Well..ok..there is only one reason they have not signed. They are letting Riley do his thing and get as much talent as he can and then Riley will say...ok guys...heres whats left? I doubt it.
Which is exactly who Phil has been talking to. Apparently the 76ers are willing to take Stoudemire's deal but they wanted Shumpert or Bargs also. Jackson doesn't want to make that move without a for sure from LeBron. It will be very very hard, but it is possible.
and the only reason that roster is better is because of Lebron...the best player in the world. We could name...lets say 5 teams in the East that if you put him on their roster its the best in the East. My point is the rest of players...Bosh..then Wade...and then all of the trash...you think that roster can compete? I think Lebron wants to stay but he just seees no way that team can win.
No way this is the reason. You know how hard it must be for Riley to try and get players signed with the talking point of "possibly" playing with the likes of Bosh, Wade, and LeBron? With all the uncertainty, do people actually believe the players are certain as to where LeBron is going? Let's not forget the numbers also. With none of them committing, Riley has no fuckin clue what he has on the table to offer. It's all speculation, especially after Bosh was just offered a HUGE contract from Houston. This is not helping Miami with the big 3 not committing. It can only point one way, and that's the way of LeBron walking out the door.
