If our corners step up to play, it should be easy. Even though they somehow ran all over us last year

I don't know but I don't think they're going to be that bad this season.

Rod Streater KILLED us last year, they scored 27 w/ Matt McGloin at QB. Streater really had a nice season last year too, he would have easily been our best WR a year ago.

Who are we, the '85 Bears? (now who the hell said that?) : )

Opening day, at home, 2013: it took a bone-headed play by Tampa Bay to put the ball in position for a very iffy, very long FG that Folk happened to make against a team that ended up a whopping 4-12. Again, at home. While the Jets have hopefully improved the Raiders sure have (Mack, Moore, Jackson, Tuck, Woodley, MJD, et al) and I think you're making too many sunshine assumptions here. Whatever you think about Schaub, he's not going to be Terrell Pryor running a "duck, tuck it & run" Chinese fire drill offense.

    1. Jets on defense: Jones isn't the only WR that can go deep and the jury's still out on our corners. What about our LBs in coverage? Pryor alone can't cover for all of them in space. Front 7 may be solid vs. the run, but what about the pass rush?

    2. Jets on offense: "Our OL will be able to handle Tuck and company?" Handle? You sure? Winters is a guaranteed step-up? Colon's 100%. Brick's a year older. And this is (fingers crosssed) that they stay healthy throughout the pre-season.

Yes the Raider pickups are fairly long in the tooth. But come game #1 though, that's not going to be as much an issue vs. down the road when the season drags on. They'll pretty much know who their $-starters are fairly early in TC, I so I'd look for HC Allen to try and keep 'em as fresh as daisies coming out of the gate. This game imho isn't a gimme by any means. Besides, training camp's not even started and the Jets (and Raiders) have been essentially running around not htting anyone. Way too early to crown anyone 1-0.

......sheeeet, we haven't even started with the "Raiders-look-a-like" thread.

    4-1

Jets beat down over bills in opener

Jets beat down vs Indy in 2012.. Like 35-6 or something ..

Jets over pats last year in OT

    Jets over Saints last year

And the loss to miami last year (that game was sooooo boring and it seemed like miami fans out numbered ours!)

Lost to the Ravens back in 2003 when Ed Reed picked off a Quincy Carter pass in the end zone and took it back 100+ yards. First ever Jet game.

Won against the Dolphins Monday Night football in Miami in 2009.

Lost to the Steelers in AFC Championship game. That was a tough flight home.

Lost to the Patriots in 2011 Sunday Night football at MetLife.

Beat the Bucs in last years openers..

That one play where he burned revis late for a TD that won the game?

he didn't burn Revis, revis was supposed to have safety help, he didn't get it and that was one play in a long night for the "great" Jets D. we got the lead back after that play then the D let up another TD drive to lose it.

I've only been to one jet regular season game. The notorious butt fumble. I win.

This is the NFL. Any given Sunday. There are no gimmes, especially when you're the Jets.

Lol. I didn't go to a game for over ten years after I went to the one where Testaverde went down.

We need to find the assholes that went to the Pats-Jets game when Mo Lewis took out Bledsoe.

They should be shot. With high powered rifles.

You think they are going to be looking past any game this season? Did they go to the playoffs last season and I missed it? Are the Jets one of the better teams in the league and I am just confused?
It's not a trap game, it's not a must win game. Of course I want them to win and I am sure they want to also but it is not like the season will be over if they lose.

I love this time of year for football, strangely enough. It's the heart of the summer and everyone is focused on baseball, vacations, beaches and having a good time. But all the while, opening day is always on your mind. As much as I love the summer, September is my favorite month and football always helps make the transition from summer to fall. So all the while, football may not be on the forefront of my mind, but it lingers in the back and builds up in a great culmination on opening day. I feel like everything we do in the summer gets let loose in the stadium Week 1 and it's a huge celebration. It's possibly my favorite day of out of the year, and a Raiders vs Jets classic AFL rivalry is the perfect way to kick it off.
I know just as many Raiders fans as I do Jets fans (sad), and a lot of people are going to this one, so the tailgate should be immense. Spirits are always high and everybody enjoys talking big because everyone's team is 0-0. Even right now is an auspicious and exciting time for football, you don't really have to worry about anything too serious, but lots of things are on the horizon. I'm certainly not wishing the summer away, but I can't wait for opening day. Pumped for this game.
