The discussion wasn't who had better post season success (Sanchez) or who you'd pick--after Namath--if you had to win one game (probably Testaverde), it was who--behind Namath--was the second best Jet career QB. Second in yardage, second in TDs, 3rd in starts, lowest Int% (for QBs with over 25 starts), 2nd in QB rating. In a much different era. He was a damn good QB. Second best career Jet QB. _
Ken played in 124 games as a Jet 128 TDs, 24, 386 yds, Mark played in 62 games. if we prorate: 136 TDs, 24, 184 yds Ken compiled some nice #s but had only a season and half of really good play. he hurt his throwing shoulder but durability counts. The Jets made the AFC championship game in 1982 w/ a young, talented roster. ken was drafted in 1983, only had 2 winning seasons, never won a playoff game. he was a quality QB, Mark was better. Mark at his worst was also worse but again this game is about winning. I don't care about meaningless individual #s compiled in a weak era.
The Sanchez discussion will never end... Does he have to die for us to stop talking about him? I thought going to another team would do the trick.
That is an EXCELLENT criteria for judging the top alltime career Jet QBs--let's average out what they did and extrapolate that out. Let's take a guys stats from 4 years--a guy that was thrown to the curb--and project what he would have done over a 9-10 year career and use THAT as the judge of the best CAREER Jet QBs. Now you've got me thinking and I'm changing my mind. I think Frank Reich is the greatest Jet career QB. Prorate him out to 124 games and he goes: 186 TDs and 27,404 yards. Holy shit. That dude was awesome. Best CAREER Jet QB ever. _
Ken was here for a while b/c Free Agency didn't exist, if not he would have been "thrown to the curb" many years before he was still in the building and they gave out his jersey #. They thought so highly of him they started Browning Nagle over him. sorry, compiled #s w/o winning is meaningless to me. did Frank Reich ever help us get to the playoffs? did he help us win 4 road playoff games? make more title apps than any QB in Jets history? have double the amount of postseason wins as the next best Jets QB?
You're right. If you look at the all time career Jet QBs, it's Namath and then a prorated Sanchez. Have fun with those windmills. _
awesome, now check those great Os in postseason and see what ken did. Interestingly enough, PPG w/ O'Brien/Sanchez starting(reg season) O'Brien 1984-1992: 19.5 Sanchez 2009-2012: 19.6
we had really good Ds w/ Ken too and that D was #1 why we won but also why we lost to Indy blowing a double digit lead. you crack me up when you get flustered and have nothing.
2009 had a better offensive line, a great running game and a defense that wasn't even close to what Ken had, Ken imploded here because he held onto the ball too long but didn't have the offense line like Sanchez had. Sanchez normally had adequate time in the pocket to make plays. Your comments are such full of shit sometimes junc it's amazing you get away with this. The only comedian here is you for un-directly saying Sanchez is the best Jets QB of all time. You never have anything negative to say about Mark, yet so much more to say about the more gifted passer in Ken O'Brien and the only QB to get us a SB in Namath.
Who's flustered? I find you entertaining. You actually have nothing other than an opinion. Which wouldn't be shared by 95% of all Jet fans who (i) actually watch the games, (ii) has watched them both play and (iii) has a brain. I'm a HUGE Sanchez fan/supporter/defender. At one point I thought he was going to be better than Namath. Was hoping up until the end. He's not a better career Jet QB than O'Brien. Have fun tilting at windmills. Hint: they don't exist. _
we all share opinions and I am glad I am one of 5% b/c most fans don't truly understand the game. You share opinions too but if someone disagrees you attack them rather than the post, it's a defense mechanism you have. I feel bad for you. Instead of paying attention and learning you hurl childish insults.
we didn't have a great run game in 2009, it was good but vastly overrated. feasted on some bad run Ds to inflate #s. OL- edge 2009/10 RBs- edge 1985/86 WR/TEs- edge 1985/1986 DL- edge 1985/86 LB- even secondary- edge 2009/2010 coaching- edge 2009/2010 I have never said mark is our best QB of all time, I properly rate Mark. The reason it seems I always praise is b/c of uninformed average fans posting nonsense that I have to refute. he had plenty of flaws and should have been even better but I am always pumping him up from the know nothings who think he sucked. Ken looked the part which is important to average/fantasy fans. I get that. Joe was a hero to anyone over 45-50, I get that too but I like to deal in reality. None of the QBs were great(outside of a season or 2 from Namath). It's why we have only 1 SB. if we had better QB play we'd have been to more so sorry for not bowing down to a mostly average group of Qbs throughout our history.
