Kinda similar to the other topic, but from your guys personnel experience, which countries/locations/cities would you say are must-visits at least once in one's lifetime?
Bahrain, one of the few non-dry Arab countries on this earth, and a great mix of cultures. It's an island off the coast of Saudi Arabia, connected by an artificial land bridge, beautiful place to visit. Basically the Hawaii of the middle east.
Depends what you're into. I never cared about paintings, but love sculpture and architecture. So I can't care less about Paris, but would spend a month in Rome or Prague.
Landstuhl, Germany. A little too inundated with American military, but it's a neat town, hilly streets similar to San Francisco, but all cobblestones, great local atmosphere, connected to every local place.
And I'll go ahead and steal Stokes' thunder, although I've never been there. One place that I will go before I die is Bruges in Belgium. Every single spot in that city is a postcard waiting to happen.
Im curious about Australia, has anyone ventured out there? Thats probably #1 on my list currently. (Im not in a position to go right now though)
For whatever reason, Europe doesnt appeal to me. Im not sure why, maybe because ive seen a lot of it magazines/tv/etc. While countries in the Middle East and Asia I would look into going to.
In Italy, in no particular order (some are regions, some cities within regions): Amalfi. Tuscany. Capri. Rome. Florence. Venice. Cinque Terre (when they are all rebuilt). Portofino. San Frutoso. Lake Como. Bellagio. Cortina d' Ampezzo. Monteriggioni. Santa Margerita. Sienna. In France: Paris. Cote d' Azure. Lourdes. In Spain: Sevilla. Like Byz said, Bruges in Belgium. The real Pearl of Europe. In Holland: Utrecht. In Ireland: Dingle Penninsula. Kenmare. Kilnsale. The Cliffs of Moher. In Austria: Salsburg. Vienna. Bavaria. Key West. Maui. Kauai. North and West Side of Oahu. _
Ha I actually drove through last week but I was on the major roads so I didnt get to see much of it. Only saw the exit signs.
Cannes during the film festival was pretty cool. Israel was nice, Greece is cool. there is a little island of the coast of Spain called palma del malorca (sp) big European vacation spot. if you are still young and in the nite club scene it is great. thought venice was overrated. kinda dirty if you ask me. but the one place i want to go is alaska.
My best friend's daughter just was there for a 3 week course. I asked her which she liked better, Istanbul or Constantinople? She looked at me like I was a congenital idiot. _
I loved Istanbul, sorry for leaving it off, I was mesmerized by the Topkapki and Aya Sofya, I just wish I had had more time to sight see while I was in Turkey, it was a really taxing business ordeal for me there.
Seoul was a cool place to live for a couple of years, but it was a sordid time in my life. There's a ton of sight seeing you can do, but mine was mostly alcohol and drug related, with a lot of pussy thrown in. My Seoul claim to fame was dating a girl that was a stock car racer and also an actress in soap operas. She was drop dead gorgeous, and only wanted to get dicked by an American for the experience, and I didn't give a shit. I got into a bunch of SK clubs I never would have without her and I got to plug that tight pussy for a couple of months, and this dude that was on her race team took us on this insane ride in her car where I thought we were going into the Hannam River a few times, but the dude could drive. Overall, I took away from Korea that you don't date a model/actress for more than 2 months unless you have a small dick, you enjoy the experience of small royalty in the club scene to the point where you get everything for free, Americans only get to eat dog if they are invited by diplomats to do so, and you can easily intertwine with the entire populace while trolling on x and lsd. And also that I wanted to drive cars to the limit of their ability. Speed, motherfucker. I love it. Aside from that, well, there are the normal Seoul experiences to add to it. I won't get into the gang bars and deaf mutes.
Before I met my wife I was dating a woman who was an Albanian-national. I went with her to visit Albania and I gotta say I was blown away. Absolutely a beautiful place. I think others might have a different experience without having the benefit of family there to take you places (there's some bad stories out there) but we were treated like kings and the Adriatic was unbelieveable. In recent years the country is becoming more of a tourist attraction with less unrest, so that's great
Not sure if this should go in the "first time traveler to New York thread", but flash dancers on 52nd and bway is valid
That's crazy, a coworker of mine was just stumping for Bahrain the other day. I've heard others say good things as well. A couple questions, these may be dumb but its not obvious to me--- when you say it's a "non-dry" country, are you referring to the terrain or to the availability of alcohol? And - off the coast of Saudi Arabia? Does that mean Red Sea?
