And that's why you are an obvious troll. Snap changes between confused illiterate kitten posts and literate responses meant to inflame. You're a fucking fake, I know that, and I don't care who else does. Pathetic bitch.
Call me whatever you want but at the end of the day I don't give a fuck what you think about me. Don't like what I say ignore me it that easy.
My family has lived here in NYC our entire lives,,,,that said not too long ago my brother took a tour around NYC on one of the many double decker tour buses that are here.....he said it was great and learned things about NYC that he never even knew about,,,,,,,i have wanted to take one of those tours,,,maybe that's an idea for you ?
No worries. Got a lot of great suggestions so far, trying to just kind of make a list. I won't be able to see and do everything but the more information I have the better.
I read online a guy said that's a really good thing to do your first day so you can get the lay of the land a little bit and then later when you are walking around you won't be as confused by your surroundings. It's good to know that they are informative as well, I've done a few similar tours of other places with a guide and found it pretty interesting. Although I think one of the drivers in Ireland just made stuff up because he thought it was funny...which is funny, I wasn't upset, but made it a bit less valuable of an experience.
Go visit Bamonte's Italian Restaurant in Brooklyn. Some awesome Italian food there! My family is good friends with the Bamonte family. Been around for 100 years. Have the pork chops and peppers. Fuckin awesome!!! This is from our visit in December. I always grab a meal there when I go to New York Here are some pics right before New Years this past Christmas:
As with other suggestions for pizza places, bars and restaurants, unless there is another attraction to put a visitor in the area it is really not helpful IMO. There are so many good restaurants and many of them will be right near attractions. With eating while vacationing most times it is just best to wait till you are hungry and then just do a search to see what good restaurants are in the area. Looking at that restaurant it looks like it is in a residential area and nothing else around.
True as far as it goes, and generally very good advice no matter where you are visiting. However, if you are infrequent to NYC, and you have any taste at all for Italian food, you really should make time to visit some out of the way neighborhood joint.
Actually one of the best suggestions so far. First day and you get a total lay of the land and you'll see many of the major outdoor landmarks. We did this in both Rome and Paris on the first day and you see everything and where everything is and then from there you can start your walking trips. _
Ordinarily I'd agree if you are there for an extended period of time, especially if you are not traveling with kids. If you're only there for a few days and are lugging around a passel of kids, there are just so many good restaurants near the places that you'll be visiting that it's not really that necessary. For instance, great Italian right in midtown not expensive and a great variety is Becco (Lydia's place) for the three pasta tasting menu. That'll work for adults and kids. _
I think you are right, wrong term speakeasy. I was thinking more on the lines of a gin mill or a watering hole. _
Yes Virginia, There is an ..........in Virginia. : ) Love, Santa on-topic: excellent advice on the "bus loop" thing to get a general lay of the land. (sidebar: JS: in Paris, are you talking about those that originate across the street from the Madeleine church?
I have to disagree completely. We aren't talking about another Italian restaurant that is good. This is a historical landmark in Brooklyn. Been there 100 years and the walls are flooded with pictures of every famous celebrity known to man: Frank Sinatra, Luciano, etc. Mobsters, movie stars, singers, everyone has visited and ate there. Very expensive, but very worth it
Actually no, in Paris we hired a private car right from our hotel. In Rome we did the open-air bus. Great way to see everything in one bite-sized nugget, especially with NYC considering how big it is. _
According to Zagat's it is only good, http://www.zagat.com/r/bamontes-restaurant-new-york, not great. There are a multitude of Italian restaurants where the walls are flooded with the celebrities that ate there and the food is great. I was going to suggest F&J Pine in the Bronx which rates higher on Zagat, http://www.zagat.com/r/pine-restaurant-new-york, in every category over Bamonte's except service where it is just one notch below, it is also right near the Bronx Zoo and Botanical Gardens but once again, just another good restaurant. Also cheaper than Bamonte's. It comes down to where one grows up in many cases, being I am from the Bronx I ate at the Pine many times and think it is great. If someone is asking for food recommendations I will tell them about it but for a first timer going to NYC, nope, too many other things to do. Roberto on Arthur Ave is another, Patricia's in Morris Park and the list can go on and on.
So is Rao's. What about Sardi's with 1000s of celebrity drawings? There are tons of landmark places adorned with photos of every celebrity known to man. Trekking out to Brooklyn for an Italian restaurant--while I'm sure it's outstanding--just isn't necessary on a short trip with kids. Why not Arthur Avenue? _
