V&T pizza 110th and amsterdam (its a real sit down old fashion great pizza place). It is the shit, go with the peppers and meatball. There is a huge cathedral church next door and Grant is close by. It's the oldest bar in Manhattan. They serve 2 beers, dark or light. They have a lantern above the bar with turkey bones all over it. Say the turkey bones were their 'regulars' who didn't come back from WWII. Every once in awhile the whole bar will break out to "God Bless America."
Not a bad call on all fronts, however if you're going to go that far up town for pizza, you're much better off at Patsies on the upper east side. Far superior to V&T. Shittier neighborhood, though.
My favorite speakeasy of all time closed 2 years ago- The Back Fence on Bleeker Street. I still like the Old Town Bar just north of Union Square, a block or two over from the famous landmark the Flatiron Building. Cool bar we used to go to was the Spice Market in the Meat Packing District, a block or 2 from the Highline. Hogs and Heifers is right around the corner. Go see all the bras hung on the ceiling. Most unique and unknown bar for drinks is the Campbell Apartment in Grand Central Station (well, just outside, the entrance is on Vanderbilt. As long as you're going to see GCS, might as well go for a drink there. Very cool. Also the Spy Corner (or Whisperers Gallery) under Grand Central is a cool 2 minute diversion. Just outside the Oyster Bar. _

Been to McSorley's quite a few times but don't really think it is worth it for someone on a short schedule to take time out to go to, I know I mentioned a couple of bars earlier but there really are no bars worth going out of the way for. If someone is in the neighborhood OK but not for a special trip. Same thing with pizza, there could be an entirely separate thread just on the best pizza, too many places to count.
I'm confused, I thought a speakeasy was an after hours joint. The Back Fence was a cool spot but not a speak easy as far as I was aware, been a while though. Old Town owner is a Jet fan, before my dad passed he hooked us up with a couple of his tickets to the last game me and my pop went to together.
