Interesting developments in the two games today....

Nigeria with a win or draw get through but a loss combined with an Iran win gets the Iranians through. Messi scored to make it 1-0 but Nigeria tied it up only for Messi to score again before the half. Iran trails Bosnia who are probably the 2nd best team in the group but got screwed against Nigeria. I think Iran needs to win as a draw only gives them 2 points. While not the best group I'd argue this one has been one of the 2 or 3 most exciting whne you factor in Iran's 90+ minute loss to Argentina.

Wow.... Nigeria scores right out of the gate to get even and Argentina scores 3 minutes later for the 1 goal lead...... I find myself pulling for Nigeria as I can't imagine the heavy hearts those players are playing with. They are a bright spot for an entire nation heading into the shitter.

And now Bosnia takes a 2 goal lead so it looks like regardless of what happens with Nigeria and Argentina that Nigeria is going to become the 1st African team to move on, it does not appear at least as of now that any Asian teams will move through as Korea is their last hope.

One of the most exciting games of the cup today between Nigeria and Argentina. Bosnia up 2-0 against Iran by the way.

Wow... Iran cuts it 2-1 but then Bosnia roars back with a goal. It's really a shame they lost the Nigeria game as they were robbed.

Should FIFI show any sack and ban his ass, Suarez should put his mouth-where-his-money-is and "face off" against Kobayashi at Coney Island on the 4th.

I just read that the same exact situation that the US is in could actually happen with the Swiss as well. They beat Ecuador H2H but if Ecuador gets a better result than the Swiss they will move on and the Swiss would go home.

At first blush you don't see his left leg getting pushed to the right, but then you realize it was when you see the 'swing path' of his left (kicking) ending up square behind his right foot. Imagine (American football) you're a righty kicker kicking an extra point using the old conventional "straight-on" method of kicking. Now unless you were a total klutz, your straight-on "swing path" would never cause your right foot to kick the back of you left foot. Penalty.

Dam, it's even worse for the Swiss than I thought, unlike the US who can advance with a loss despite beating Ghana H2H any win by Ecuador eliminates the Swiss despite losing to them

I've got France and the Swiss winning which would put Switzerland through and France winning the group. Just don't see Ecuador having enough to take out France, at best they get a tie, and I think the Swiss handle Honduras.
Of course I have been way off on some games so far, 25-17 in my picks so far, picked the exact score in only 5 games.

France is already through, unless Ecuador and Swiss both win with goal differential of 6 and 8 goals respectively, so France may dial it down a notch so as to not risk injury. I don't think they will sit anyone but substitutions may come in earlier, they are playing very good as a unit so even subbing in will not matter much.
The Swiss need to win and hope for Ecuador to lose or draw, hard to say if that makes this a better game to watch over France V Ecuador which overall should have better quality of play.

Neither side can win the group over France so I don't see France going gung ho over the game with Ecuador although I can't see them not showing up. They may just stop playing in the 2nd half.

BTW did anyone catch this story about Ghana threatening to boycott tomorrow's game because they hadn't gotten paid by their government but last night their government stepped in and paid them 3mill to not boycott.
