I I've already said what my thoughts were on this topic. You seem to take it as me taking a shot at Rex or something weird. Or maybe you just take things out of your control a little too serious. I'll lean toward the latter.
Pettine is the type of guy that is never the one that did anything wrong. Its always somebody else and he knows who... That game wears itself thin after a whike
They have a main rival. The Browns are getting a new scoreboard this year in part because the Steelers made their scoreboard a few feet larger than the one in Cleveland. I saw lots of anti-Steelers stuff in stores in Cleveland. I never saw similar stuff in Jets territory.
this whole thing is hysterical....its a playbook for the DEFENSE right? The defense? It would take any of us 2 games...a pencil and a piece of paper..and perhaps the pause button to have a teams Defense down pat. Some real complicated stuff when that safety comes crawling up the line before the snap..will he come? Wont he? Wheres the playbook? The only thing that came out of this for many of us is that Pettine..for some reason..really hates Rex now. Probably because Rex did everything he could to make sure everyone knew he was in charge of the defense..and its playcalling. Still..with all of this public knowledge...that moron not only got a job by the one team that is foolish enough to think he might be his own man...but the only other organization that is even dumber then Bufflalo...and think that he is even brighter then Buffalo thought..and gave him the HC job. This could be one of the few times that a HC or Manager put a story out there to deflect what a moron HE is.
For years, Rex Ryan talked a bunch of Super Bowl smack and ring kissing nonsense to take the pressure off of his team (and his fragile young QB) and put the target on his own back. Pettine is a new HC of a team that drafted a media lightning rod QB and has been on record that he wants Manziel to be treated like any other player as a rookie, who's to say Pettine isn't trying to do the same thing? Hell, he could have done this with any other team, but he chose to do it by basically trashing two of the most high profile HCs in the league.
totally possible Abyz...totally possible. I would think you would not go after the guy that took you out of high school football? Who knows..maybe there is a method to his madness. Hey..maybe he is smarter then Rex staying out of his own division with his barbs.
the ass has the ability to talk about so much stuff. Talking out of it can bring so many interesting topics. For him to go down that road? If he had no predetermined agenda, just talking out of his ass, Im sure he must have a treasure's load of crap bottle up inside.
I do think there was a weirdness to the way he left the Jets, and you have to admit, the parade of anonymous sourced quotes from Mehta all but stopped when he left. Guy left the Jets unceremoniously to take a lateral position with a division rival. I think he's got something against Rex that maybe Rex doesn't have against him, or has forgiven him for. I've watched a lot of the pressers he did for the Jets and he always seemed too big for his britches.
And before anyone tells me that the guy wanted to get out of Rex's shadow, he was 45 years old when he left the Jets and was 11 years removed from coaching a fucking high school team. That's what I mean by too big for his britches. He really does remind me of Mangini in a lot of ways.
One thought that popped into my head is that Pettine might have taken the leaked Patriots scouting report on Manziel as a big insult, and perhaps felt a need to hit back. The tone of the report was very negative (it can be summed up with the line that says he'll never take football seriously enough for the Patriots) so maybe he decided to hit back at the Patriots, and also Rex (for taking away his playcalling duties and, perhaps in his mind, forcing him to leave the Jets.) I think Pettine realizes that he has to manage the Manziel media situation very carefully, to avoid it becoming a "circus", but my gut feeling is that that's inevitable.
Bitch move by Pettine, worry about your own shitty ass Browns team that even his own daughter called out as a shitty job.
To be honest, I completely forgot that Pettine was the Browns head coach. I thought he was either fired or still on the Bills.
It's kind of strange because Manziel is already getting so much attention, you'd think he wouldn't need to say anything. The media circus is there, for sure, however. That's the only reason we all know about this. The Browns better hope and pray that Pettine never gets upset, because you KNOW stories will begin to randomly pop up.
I keep reading this and I take the 5th out of stupidity but is this Pettine being the mouth behind some quotes pretty accurate stuff? I keep reading that...where did that come from...if so..the exit makes even more sense. Im not sure about this taking the pressure off his qb because lets face it...the story is dead to many..and that qb will NEVER not be a lightning rod..ever.
