Or when half the team cramps up because for some reason they haven't exactly looked in great shape to contend with the elements.
That's no excuse for that. We were ball watching on that last offensive possession we had...Jurgen wanted em back but we went 1 on 1 with Ronaldo...Damn it. This is more crushing to me than the Heat loss against the Spurs.
I hope Jurgen benches Bradley next game. Horrible game for him. On the other hand, I am pretty sure we will still advance. But the last minute goal is a dagger. Damn it.
Are you kidding me? That was the worst. And the players and coaches don't seem upset by it?? We tied, it was a good game, still in good shape, etc. That makes it harder to take for me. Are you kidding me with that?
Anyone care to explain what needs to occur now for the US to advance? There is a lot of different situations I assume.
A win or draw against Germany will advance USA regardless of the score of Ghana-Portugal game. If USA loses to Germany then it will depend on what happens at Portugal-Ghana game. If Ghana-Portugal draws, USA will also advance regardless of what happens at Germany game. If USA loses and either Portugal or Ghana wins, then the team which has a better goal scoring differential will advance.
US plays Germany Portugal plays Ghana http://www.espnfc.us/fifa-world-cup/4/table A result vs. Germany means US advances. A loss vs. Germany, and the US probably still advances. Ghana is 2 behind the US in goal differential. Ghana would have to beat Portugal and the US would have to lose to Germany, then Ghana advances, but only if Ghana finishes ahead of the US in GD (so Ghana would have to win by 2+ or the US would have to lose by 2+) Or if Portugal beats Ghana and the US losing, but Portugal would have to make up 5 goals, so that's pretty unlikely. So the US is in very good shape to get out of the group.
