Be gone you flaming windbag troll, I haven't been mad at anything in 9 years and 7 months. I'm quite proud of my stature and overly secure in where I am in my life.

You keep changing your BS because you're just a worthless troll.

You don't watch football anymore, why don't you find a message board for meter maids because that's as close to being a real cop as you'll ever be.

You're not a cop, not an Indian and now you've changed your location of Franklin Lakes because you've never been there.

    So pitiful.

Your such a liar, if your proud of your stature then why do you say it "sucks":

You are scared to act tough in real life so you get on your internet and sit behind your computer acting tough online because its the only opportunity to act tough without any real repercussion. Your an embarrassment, you are 54 years old and act like a 20 year old. My parents are of the same age and have NEVER conducted themselves the way you portray yourself on here, your immature as all hell. So you can sit there and say im the "child" but im not the one whos trying to act 34 years younger than what I truly am, because it would be impossible.

The sucks comment was part joke, part "why not me" you idiot.

And I am tougher in real life than I am here.

Stop acting like a hurt little child. You act like a troll, you come off as a tool and no one is buying your shit.

So again, please explain how you "put my ass on the line saving lives".

I find the Brooklyn Guinzaloons to be insensitive and offensive.

so if they renamed themselves the "Washington Mohawks" and kept the picture, it would be ok?

I would think yes because it's not a disparaging phrase. Cleveland Indians, Florida State Seminoles, Chicago Blackhawks, Kansas City Chiefs--all fine.

Has anyone actually heard or seen "Redskin" used as a slur or a disparaging phrase though? I mean maybe back in the frontier days but is there anyone alive that's used or been the target of this word as a slur?

Even in the frontier times it wasn't used as a slur, it was just a label. The slur they used was "savages" or similar, and I would argue that "Indians" was more of a slur than "red skin" remotely ever was. People in the US are overly sensitive with any labels of skin color because of all the oppression & disgusting treatment african americans have been through. IMO that shouldn't mean you can apply that same distaste for every label that identifies a purpoted physical characteristic.

Nobody should go around calling natives "red skins" but at the same time the team name has been around forever and is generally accepted. Just let it be, you can't erase all history

While we're at, and this is a never ending slippery slope:

Oklahoma: "The state's name is derived from the Choctaw words oklaand humma, meaning "red people""

This will likely be overturned after the appeal like it did years ago.

I think the Cleveland Indians will be the next to fall. outdated name, offensive logo...

in terms of Florida St, they were on the NCAA ban list, until the Seminole nation came out in full support of the name and mascot.
I would think a similar support would be needed for a team to assume the Mohawk name. unlikely they'd find that support in Washington, which is not where Mohawks originate.

I think the mascot yes but what about the Atlanta Braves, Syracuse Chiefs, Atlanta Hawks and 20 NCAA teams.

it's a good question in regard to the picture/logo.
by itself, i don't see any problem with it. It is quite similar to the Blackhawks logo.
In connection with the term Redskins, i can see where people would be offended.

Could they keep the logo, and simply change the name to the 'Skins'?
maybe years ago that agreement could have been reached. I would guess at this point the lawsuits would want a bigger change.
