I thought they did a pretty decent job with the first 3 seasons but I agree that the adaptation of Storm of Swords was not very good, particularly the 2nd half of it. Maybe I'm just being harsh because that was my favorite book and maybe next season will be more enjoyable to watch with my expectations so low due to the quality of the source material

I know you are a big fan of the books, but I am evaluating GOT as a TV series. Don't get me wrong, I watch it and enjoy it and I will continue to watch it. GOT is better than 95% of shows on TV. I just don't think it warrants the rave reviews some are giving it in this thread and I don't think it compares to other series I consider classics. As for the books, with all due respect, I frankly don't want to put in and don't have the time to read a 5+ volume set.

Perfectly stated. I do love the show--it's grown on me-- but IMHO it's not on par with some of other greats. But I can appreciate that some folks have it as number 1. Hell, my GF's favortie showever is The Walking Dead.

Yeah, and I can't commit to series of books that long regardless of how great thery are. Too daunting. Longest "series" I've ever read is Winds of War and War and Remembrance coming in at about 1800 pages. Actually had read it twice.

You know, I watched Dredd and that new piece of crap 300 movie and didn't even realize that Cercei was in them?

There was something really familiar about her, but I guess the blonde hair threw me off.

Also in The Brothers Grimm, was blamed by its director for the film flopping too.

    This makes me nervous. http://www.buzzfeed.com/jarrylee/valar-morghulis-indeed#.uk2om1M9o

I'd be very upset if something were to happen to Arya, or Daenerys in particular.

According to The Independent, George R. R. Martin warned that even fans of the A Song of Ice and Fire book series may be shocked by the upcoming fifth season of Game of Thrones.

George RR Martin has dropped a bombshell on Game of Thrones fans ahead of the season five premiere, warning them to “be on their toes” and expect some big shocks.

The US author has hinted that even those who read his A Song of Ice and Fire novel series will be surprised by the TV storyline, with not one, not two, but four characters set to meet their makers.

    Via independent.co.uk

GRRM stated that the show will feature deaths that aren’t in the books.

“People are going to die who don’t die in the books, so even the book readers will be unhappy,” he said at the Writers Guild West Awards on Saturday.

“Everybody better be on their toes. [Showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss] are even bloodier than I am.”

Yeah I posted about this in the ASOIAF thread. I'm not sure I like it. I don't think they will kill main characters like you mentioned but it has to be significant enough for him to talk about it. I mean, who cares if they kill off some middling character who barely get screen time or mention in the books. I guess we'll see.

Sounds like contract issues may play a part...Cersei maybe? Jaime Lannister? Think of actors who are more on the top end.

Tyrion will never get killed off because the show runners want to

Just a heads up the first four episodes are on torrents, I've already watched the first two but won't put any spoilers ahead of where the show is.
