I will always remember Chrebet's last catch. He sacrificed his body and took a shot to the head for a big first down catch late in the game vs. San Diego at home. At the time you knew he was struggling with concussion issues and any big shot to the head could end his career, but he still put it all on the line for a crucial 1st down, like he always did. It didn't matter the Jets record (they were terrible that year) he still went all out for a 1st down. Perfect summation of his career and a sad but appropriate way to go out. Even though that was only 10 years ago now, the NFL is a vastly different game as far as head shots and big hits to receivers: maybe if Chrebet played today he'd a had an even longer, more productive career...
You know, I loved it when Parcells did the throwback thing, but I always hoped they would duplicate the actual jerseys from back then instead of the streamlined version. Those uniforms are all business.
I love the darker green we have now and the green facemasks. I don't like the striped socks look, I wish we'd go back to the solid green socks like when we first stated wearing them in '98.
I have watched the game, I wouldn't say we carved them up. The bottom line is we only scored 16, the D won that game w/ all those TOs. The O did a good enough job but the D gets the bulk of the credit.
D played well when it counted in between the 20's Colts piled up yardage, 143 yards rushing....Jet O couldn't finish drives missed FG's, had a great 7 minute ball control drive in the 4th quarter that didn't result in points that iced the game
