Not a bad episode but not something spectacular. A lot of new things for next season...

    1) children at the tree
    2) stannis At the wall
    3) khaleesi and her dragons acting up
    4) arya going to bravos

Fun episode. Last year if I remember correctly was pure storyline wrap-up. This year had some excitement

It was good, but like I was afraid of, they just had too many loose ends to tie up for one episode. The Tyrion scene felt kind of rushed. Brienne vs. the Hound was cool, felt a bit more meaningful than the him just getting fucked up by random guys like in the book.

Not the best episode ever, but a not perfect GOT episode still kicks the shit out of anything else on tv.

Does this warrant a spoiler alert? I understand it has been shown but I'd still rather not know this as I'm reading through the third book. Not trying to call you out just trying to understand the rules to this thread vs the other one.

Respectfully disagree on that last point ;)

I was just wondering whatever happened to Rickon stark and Osha? Does anyone know what becomes of Rickon? Do they not play a vital role in the books?

Osha in the books up to this point is a colorful character and Rickon is almost as much of an afterthought in the books as he is in the show.

Not going to say what kind of role either of them play further than this point in the books, though, only that they have followed that arc pretty closely.

Spoilers --- well sort of --- over here in the UK they do a kind of fan show after the airing and they had Osha on (she's singer in a band). Said she was hopeful of reappearing in the next season, but sounded quite confident. Also they are apparently filming in Spain for next season, which was taken to mean that they will be doing scenes set in Dorn.

Show was good, not great though, loved the way Varis heard the bells, sighed and then trudged back to the ship. Got the feeling that a few things were taken out of this season to make season 5 more dramatic. (Not read past first two books yet, so just my guess).

The last episode was just ok. In fact, I found the first 45-50 minutes to be boring and overall, I was disappointed. GOT is a decent show that had some of its best epidodes this season, but it could not sustain it to the end. There are just far too many story lines and characters. I know I'll get flamed for this, but in my opinion it is not on a par with classics like The Wire and Breaking Bad.

I definitely think GoT is better than breaking bad. However, I do agree there are way too many story lines and loose ends at the end of this season to make something crazy happen in this season finale.

If you're at that point, stop watching the show, commit to never watching it again, and go buy the books.

And hope someday that series will be written to the end.

You just watched the Cliff's Notes of an epic story, and some of those Cliff's Notes were written by morons.

The Fly episode was the only meh episode in 5 years.

Just about every third episode of GoT is a tad meh. And I like the show.

Every episode of BB, for me, had me wanting for more.

I think you're a little rough on the HBO guys, the guy that created the world and the characters has let the story sprawl to the point where he has no idea or ability to get the story back on track, it's tough to envision them righting the ship, especially when they're trying to do it in a different medium. My main issue with them is why they insist on needlessly changing/fucking up several of the brilliant scenes from the first few books.

I don't think overall people have it as high as The Wire or Breaking Bad.

Game of Thrones is such a pop culture thing now though which is impressive considering something like this hasn't hit pop culture like this before. On top of that, it's really entertaining show and when it becomes entertaining, it goes all out.

Without going into detail, they have removed a lot of what was good in the books and left a lot of the shockers, without explaining the latter very well.

I understand that it's hard to translate a work of literature to a medium like HBO, but when you have 10 full hours per volume instead of just 3 movie hours, a smart production team can figure that part out.

It's becoming really apparent that this production team isn't up to the task. To The point where they have taken liberties with really important plot arcs.
