"Leave garbage Heat and come to NY" is message between lines in every one of your posts. All I'm saying be careful what you wish for because landing LJ on Nets would exactly the move Prohorov would consider.
No, my words are, "leave garbage Heat and go somewhere else" Just because I joke about wanting him in New York doesn't mean I'm sold on him going there.
Riley is going to have to pull off some crazy shit because look at it this way: Wade - set to make 40 million the next two years, Riley wants him to drop down to 10-12 million a year. Thats a alot. Carmelo - If resigned by Knicks would get a 5 year 130 million contract. Heat want him to take 15 million, which would be about 60-70 over four years. Melo isnt just taking a "paycut", he would be tossing away nearly half the money he would get if he resigns with the Knicks. Getting Wade to take less is not going to be easy, Wade has a huge ego. When they came together this always struck me: Wade was in the middle because he thought he was the #1 guy when they came together. Its all good though, the media onslaught that Wade is going to get when they lose the finals will be enormous. He was absolutely horrendous in game 4.
I've already conceded the series. 2 in 4 years is good enough...the other teams down here suck royally the past decade so I keep things in perspective.
There is no chance he goes there. The Clippers apparently can try and get him but why bother going to the Western Conference? Its either Cleveland or Miami next season. If he does a one year deal with Miami, then next year there will be more options.
Kawhi, Diaw, Parker. Parker has the most points and historically that FMVP goes to that individual. It would be nice for Kawhi to get the FMVP on fathers day (his dad was killed a couple years ago). Winderman said though that he would put Popovich's name on the ballet.
Yeah, I know it's a long shot, but the only team that can surpass the Heat in doucheness is the Lakers. Although the Knicks are trying real hard to change that.
That would be my guess, he was cold in the first two games, mainly because of foul trouble guarding Lebron. But the two following games he has been a monster, something woke him up. If he plays like that and the Spurs win game 5, I think he's a pretty safe bet, although Timmy and Diaw could make a good case as well.
What is interesting is that Miami is set up with a lot of cap space either this FA or next FA. Even if next year they don't make the finals or Lebron leaves, Riley put them in a position with no bad contract long term. Wade is probably the first domino setting forward whether the Heat can rebuild this year or next year. If Wade opts out, it opens the door big time, if he doesn't next year it is. If the Heat get to keep Lebron in the rebuild, it depends on what he chooses to do. If Lebron enters FA in 2015, I think he stays in Miami. They can reload like any other team with a lot of cap space (NYK) and Lebron is familiar with Spo, Riley, and the whole organization. The Knicks don't have dominos. I don't see any scenario where Amare and Bargs opt out. So, they're stuck with their team whether it be with Melo or without Melo. They will also have space in 2015, lots of it, but they might not have the first star if Melo leaves. Leaving them in the 2009 scenario except this time hopefully Phil can remain patient and understand you don't need to hit a star with FA by overpaying. You can build a team and move on and wait til next years FA group or players wishing to be traded and using your space or assets then. Finally the Lakers might not be a prime destination. Their ownership situation is dicey and that might drive players away. The Spurs are also in a good spot if Duncan opts out and retires. Around 15-20 million under the cap this year to spend and then in 2015 offseason Parker comes off the books if they don't extend him in the next year.
New reports saying Carmelo is leaning towards leaving Knicks and the two places leading the charge are Chicago and Houston.
Interesting. Those were speculated, but I'm not sure salary wise how it would work. While HOU would be talented, I don't think McHale can get that to work. Chicago would be interesting to see.
Mchale would need to motivate them to play more defense. I think these reports are just bluff, they are coming from Melo's camp more than likely which means he is trying to get Jackson to offer him that $130 million. Personally IDC if he lands in Miami, it doesnt fix their issue major issues which is defense. Lebron definitely needs that 2nd reliable scorer but if Bosh leaves then who is your big man? (actually it would not suprise me if either Diaw or Mills ends up in Miami). They have to make a decision on Chalmers to. This whole offseason will be highly entertaining.
Well if they want Melo, Bosh, Lebron, and Wade need to opt out. Then Riley would probably pull a low blow move and not resign Wade or lowball him to be honest. Get back Melo, Lebron, and Bosh. Spo could work with that defensively, the defense wouldn't extend as much, but it would be a tough D to face. The offense immediately gets better as Melo can space the floor much better than Wade. That also would leave the Heat some cap room to get a cheap PG and a backup center or something. That probably isn't a championship team in one season, but it's a real good team with veterans in the East with playoff experience and finals experience. That all depends on if Riley would do that to Wade and Spo who worked with Wade since way back when. EDIT: Also an offense running through Lebron then running through Melo when Lebron rests. You would need two different game plans to cover those two. I don't think this would be a bluff because he chose two teams that need to plan to get him and two teams that the Knicks could sign and trade to. Wouldn't a better bluff be a team that could offer him a big contract outright?
