FIFa is a corrupt organization. And I also want it pulled from Qatar. It is very clear they bribed a lot of electoral guys. As soon as they pull it from Qatar, I think there should be another electoral vote to decide who should get. I also would vouch for a Japan, Kore and Australia combo. But I hope USA gets it if they pull from Qatar.
I think FIFA is playing with fire, Sony, Adidas and other sponsors are not happy with Qatar, ESPN has exposed their system of near slavery and with an expected 4K deaths of migrant workers it's a clusterfuck and that doesn't even include the summertime temps or the idea to fuck up domestic leagues for at least 2 years. I think there is a pretty good list of places that have the infrastructure already in place to pull it off Mexico US Japan Korea China Australia/New Zealand combo Argentina I think China would be awesome... you could have games in Shanghai, Beijing, Hong Kong, Macau, Kunming, Guangzhou, Harbin, Chengdu, and Xi'an. Granted China sucks but they did an awesome job with the Olympics and they at least have qualified for a WC. It's a shame outside of South Africa there really aren't any nations in Africa that could pull it off, could you imagine seeing Kilimanjaro as the backdrop for the WC?
Aside from the fact I bet on Spain PK second half, this sucks because of the World Cup system. Spain likely advances anyway, but as 2A rather than 1A, which changes everything. I got the Spain/Netherlands final correct in the 2010 World Cup. This time I went Spain/Brazil because of the way the matchups worked out in my projected bracket. You can throw everything out the window if Spain qualifies second.
Haven't seen Dutch play that well for quite a while. The first goal was absolute beauty and I loved that they didn't stop pressing. Utter destruction of Spain.
I was not on board with them following their disgusting performance in the Euro 2012 but like Yis said, this absolutely changes the entire tournament. They in reality are quite unlucky that it's not 6-0
I had Spain beating Brazil in the first elimination round. They'll meet, but I don't see Spain winning
if that happens it doesn't matter who wins, I needed them on opposite sides of the bracket! My Brazil over Spain in the final forecast is finished. Spain's goal differential...
Let's also not forget that Chile is very good and with some luck they could knock Spain out 2 games in. Winning the WC hasn't always led to success 4 years later, in 2002 France failed to advance past group stages and in S Africa the same fate met Italy, Brazil in 06 was KO'd in the quarters. I think Spain will bounce back but Chile will not be a pushover.
The amount of diving there has been in these first 3 games is ridiculous. There has always been flopping but it seems to me it has gone completely out of control and they need to start calling it and handing out yellow cards, only way it is going to stop.
Chile is very good. They got the biggest screwjob of anyone, having to try to top Spain or the Netherlands to advance. If they were in Belgium's group, I'd have them finishing first. As for winning the last World Cup, it's not about that. It's about the current teams and I thought Spain and Brazil were the top two at this point. Then Germany, then Netherlands, then Uruguay, Argentina, Italy, etc. Argentina gets overrated a lot. I think they'll fall short again. Last time I didn't even put them in the semis. This time I had to due to the draw.
Ok so how is that not offsides? Neither the ball nor a defender is between the offensive player and the goaltender. _
Would be nice, don't see it happening anytime soon though. What I would do is that every PK is automatically reviewed upstairs and ref gets confirmation into his ear piece. If PK is not legit - yellow for diving. There is a 1-1.5 minutes delay while they are setting the PK so there is no extra delay. If PK overturned, defending team gets free kick from PK spot. Of course FIFA won't do it. Those corrupt assholes always do opposite of common sense it seems.
Never say never but I doubt it. This score is so ridiculously surprising. Two teams I don't like will most likely meet next round. Brazil vs Spain. At least one of them will lose. I would love if Argentina can make it to the finals. Since Diego Armando Maradona, I am a huge Argentina fan.
