Would Favre had been successful in NY though is the question.. He washed out of Atlanta because he was too much of a party boy as a young QB. Going to rural wisconsin where he was away from the scene and there were more cows and farms than babes and bars available really helped his career more than people think.

He had trouble keeping himself in check here in NY as a 38 year old married grandfather. Imagine a 20 yard old Brett Favre in NY? holy hell he might've drank himself to death or gotten some killer STD.

Marino though, that draft day decision hurt.

Marino would have been broken into 1000 pieces behind that Jets OL.

Actually no. If you remember, the Falcons had the pick right before us in 1991 and our then directoir of player personnel Ron Wolf loved Favre, so he struck a draft day trade to move up one spot to take him. The Falcons agreed to the trade but backed out at the last minute--might have been whilst on the clock--and took Favre instead. Apparently we were so apoplectic that we overreacted and took Nagle with the next pick.

Glanville HATED Favre and refused to play him his rookie season.

Wolf left the next year for the GM job in Green Bay and immediatley traded for Favre--obviously knowing that Glanville hated him.

We could have had Favre from 1991 had it not been for Atlanta backing out on the draft pick trade.

Nope--he didn't wash out--Glanville hated him. I think he only played a handful of snaps all year. That's how Ron Wolf stole him.

I hear you....actually looking at your username/avatar I 'see' you as well, lol. Well, even if he couldn't keep it in his pants, I'd have still taken my chances given he was a QB vs. Moore a competant but not earth-shaking WR. As for Browning, the Louisville Rifle, IIRC (and speaking of Atlanta) outside of a promising performance on the road against the Falcons, alas, not much else besides finding out he had a decent singing voice (heard he wasn't the brightest and/or most dilligent student of the game) his fine arm notwithstanding.

Thanks for the heads up on the draft. I did recall Wolf immediately snatching Farve afterwards as well as Glanville not liking him.

that OL was not bad, O'Brien took a ton of sacks b/c he held onto the ball looking for the big play downfield. he was like Bledsoe type.

I remember that game well. First ever game in the brand new Georgia Dome. Nagle was great that game, threw for a ton of yards, thought we had found our rifle armed big time QB. I remember Parcells afterward--think he was on TV at that point--saying let's not put him in Canton just yet.

    How right he was.

He was dumb as rocks. He threw the ball as hard as possible whether the guy was right in front of him or 30 yards downfield. no touch whatsoever and no common sense.

1997 was a pretty darn good year for Bledsoe. You can trash him in other years for holding the ball too long but he was only sacked 30 times that year. Also threw for 3700+ yds and 28 tds.

Had the third most attempts in the league and the third most touchdowns, and the fourth most yards.

    That's not being carried.

1997 they lost in the div rd where he led his O to 6 pts.

he was a good #s guy, he wasn't a good QB.
