Dude I could Skype a dude's head off, then I'd Skype his mother right in the Skypehole for a few days. Blocker be like "Dude I forgot my password"
So what is the prize for winning? I obviously transposed the two names before hitting the post button, but if you think that is a cardinal sin here, go F yourself.
I think the legal stuff will blow over. His lawyer is pushing hard to have Goodson & the driver's cases kept completely seperate. If that comes to fruition, the driver has already claimed ownership of the bullets leaving Goodson w/merely possession of a couple joints..slap on the wrist. What about his rehab from the ACL though? To mke that's the bigger question. W/all these legal proceedings is he gonna show up to camp in shape? Guy still is a talent. He could compete as both a Tailback as well as returner.Wouldn't surprise me in the least if he makes this team.
I think the Jets are waiting to cut him. He is probably very out of shape if he hasn't even bothered to get in touch with the Jets, and who knows where his head is at, or his knee for that matter. The Jets got CJ to take the role Goodson was supposed to have, and they're not dumping Powell for Goodson given his character issues and recent injury history. There's no space for him on the roster IMO.
He's going to have a possible conviction looming over him. And- if he's been stressed out and isn't in shape, not rehabbing his knee properly- he won't be anywhere near as good as Green or Richardson. The fact that Rex doesn't know what his status is is alarming, and means we should presume that he's not in great shape. If he'd been active with the team, showed that his knee was okay, working hard, etc- maybe he'd have a solid chance, but as of now it doesn't seem like he's focusing on football at all.
Meh. I don't know if anyone has seen or heard anything directly on where he is physically, or on what he wants to do. I could even see his lawyer advising not to attend the OTA's if he is trying to work out a plea deal, and doesn't want a media circus to affect the negotiations, as would probably have occurred if he had shown up. But whether he's been working out or not, what shape his knee is in, I don't think there's any solid info out there. On the other hand maybe the Jets see no reason to come to a decision on him before his court issues are resolved. That doesn't mean the necessarily keep him if the outcome is not too negative. Just that they probably don't see a need to do anything yet. I bet Powell would like to see them come to some resolution, though.
...bye-bye. http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/reports-rb-mike-goodson-a-no-show-at-jets-minicamp-061714
If his lawyer was telling him not to go to OTAs, he would have also told him to say the reason. He would not tell his client "don't go to work, don't give a reason for not going to work, and completely cut off all contact with your employers and hope they don't fire you." What kind of lawyer would give his client that kind of advice? The Jets hope they can recoup some of his bonus money if he gets convicted or takes a plea deal involving jail time. That's the only reason he hasn't been cut yet.
I don't know why anyone would hold out hope for that turd Goodson. Powell is by far the better compliment to both Ivory and Johnson, and has actually proven he can play with consistency.
I wouldn't be focused on football either if I were facing time behind bars... Reality this is at a position of strength for us in a position devalued by the league these past years so I'm not worried.
I do not know that there has been no communication between Goodson and the Jets. If that is the case, I would agree that would be relevant. (in that connection I understand the news report said Rex had not heard from him, so there's that. But I don't know if that's all there is going on here.) But part of your premise is questionable. The OTA was voluntary. I don't know what the CBA says about telling the team whether you are attending a voluntary workout or not. It's not like a regularly scheduled workday the employee fails to show up for. Now whether Goodson SHOULD have said something, and actually did not, those are both other matters.
Actually I should also add my post two posts ago was more about whether Goodson was injured and whether he should attend the OTA's given his legal situation than it was about communications or lack thereof between Goodson and the Jets.
