Sometimes I think that people have way too much time on there hands, but when I see a clip like this, I'm glad that some folks DO have too much time because they put it to good use. That was pretty funny. _
Would love to see Melo jump to either Miami or Chicago so I can root for him again. Or the Lakers. Or Boston. Or the Spurs or Mavs or Nets. Hell, anywhere. _
I think he's gonna end up in Chicago or stay in New York. I can't see him going to Miami. Like I posted before, in order to keep LeBron and Wade and pay Carmelo, they would all need to play for $14 million each. Lebron is making his most money of his career this year at $19 million. You're telling me he is gonna take a $5 million pay cut when he's in the prime of his career? You think Carmelo would only take that much also?
No, I know. I'm just pointing things out since a couple of us have been discussing this now. Jordan and Bryant were making $30+ million a year in their prime. Hell, Bryant is still making that. Lebron needs his pay day. There are way too many moving pieces for Carmelo to end up in Miami. This isn't like when they made the move for LeBron and Bosh. This is way different. They'd be asking each guy to take massive pay cuts, they'd be asking Haslem to take a huge cut off his last year, then they'd need to take the rest of the money to find other pieces. Carmelo would no longer be the big shot. He would be playing under LeBron and would be making nothing close to what he wants. Too many moving pieces. Everything sounds great in theory, but getting all this to happen is near impossible. Carmelo's best move would be to stay in New York. Spend a year battling out another average season and let Jackson work his magic next year when there is money to blow and contracts are off the books. Let Jackson try and pursue guys like Kevin Love and LeBron James.
I just don't know. The guy has to be worth half a billion--I'm thinking he cares more about championships and his legacy rather than the extra $$ per year--although I could be wrong. But I can't see him going to get the last dollar at the expense of a better situation. _
I agree in part, but it would require him to drop his salary down to near $14 million. Yes, he's a lot about championships, but he's making $19 million now. The best player in the world making less than $15 million a year? Insane. I think last time I was reading, James is worth somewhere in the ballpark of $180 million.
Yeah just looked $185 million--I'm surprised. Makes $19 mill in salary and $45 mill in endorsements a year. I get taxes but you'd think he'd be worth more than that. _
Yeah, I remember reading that. I was shocked also. You'd figure with all the money in endorsements and his playing career, he'd be worth more. He will be worth a lot more one day. He's a smart guy and has the right people close to him. He's very close with guys like Warren Buffet, who will guide him in investing his money. I wouldn't doubt one day he's worth half a billion. With or without his big pay day.
What i was implying is that they have lost every Game one on the road and have always returned from that loss with a win in Game 2 and in the series Agreed always knew that seeing it was the finals /NoFaith
About game 4 tonight, after game 3 I assumed the Heat would win game 4 in cakewalk. Those feelings have changed, I am actually feeling fairly optimistic because all season I felt like the Spurs were just the better team. The Heat on the other hand were not as good as last season and have been relying very heavily on Lebron James. The telling game to me was game 2, the Heat had to win that game, they won it, but they had to fight for it and scrape it out despite Lebron having one of the greatest shooting in a finals games ever. Compare that to last year, game 4 when the Heat had to win in San Antonio, they WON IT fairly easily. Not so much this year. So all season long the Spurs have been talking about game 6 and redeeming themselves and getting the championship, this is it right here, they win tonight they will go home and get this burden off their chests forever. My brain told me Spurs in 5, the heart told me Spurs in 6, I rolled with Spurs in 6 but I suspected it was going to be 2-1 either way. Hopefully they can win tonight, Go Spurs Go.
Apparently Lebron was invested in the Dre Beats and when they got sold to Apple he made 30 million or something along those lines: http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/...et-for-30-million-profit-on-apple-beats-deal/
Yep. As much as I dislike the some of the things on the court about him, he is a very savvy guy. He's surrounded himself with the right people and turned his career into a marketing empire. He's going to die a richer man than any past or present professional athlete in the US, including Arod..
I was feeling optimistic until I found out Joey Crawford was calling tonight's game. Right now I'm calling either Tim or Pop getting tech'd out of the game in the third, maybe both, Heat will probably win by 20.
I think Jordan has set himself up to contiue making huge $$ through investments so Lebron might not catch him. If Tiger wins another major--maybe him too. _
Idk, he's the majority owner of the Hornets and still is raking it in from Nike. He may already be a billionaire. That's a LOT pocket change. http://www.boston.com/sports/basket...4/06/michael_jordan_is_now_a_billionaire.html Michael Jordan is Now a Billionaire By virtue of increasing his stake in the NBA's Charlotte Hornets, former NBA superstar Michael Jordan is now a billionaire, according to Forbes. Jordan first invested in the Hornets (at that time the Charlotte Bobcats) in 2006. He became the team's majority owner in 2010, buying out Robert Johnson. Jordan recently increased his stake in the Hornets from 80 percent to 89.5 percent. The team is now valued between $600 million and $625 million, though the recent sales of the Milwaukee Bucks and Los Angeles Clippers could push that value of that franchise and others even higher. Jordan made much of his money from a deal with Nike. His Jordan brand line of shoes brought in $2.25 billion in the U.S. last year. Forbes estimates Jordan's annual income to be around $90 million. _
This is not true at all. Lebron is worth $185 million right now. He has a ton of endorsements as well. Jordan is worth $1 billion. Lebron is not gonna make Jordan's money look like pocket change. He might never be worth what Jordan is to begin with.
Michael Jordan is 51 years old, he has accumulated money over the course of the years. LeBron isn't even 30 years old yet and has already shown that he is more marketing savvy than Jordan was at the age of 40. The truth is that LeBron is going to make Jordan's money look like pocket change.
You keep saying that. Do you know what $1 billion is? Lmao LeBron would need to make excess of $2 billion to make Jordan's money look like "pocket change". Jordan may have had more time to accumulate money, but LeBron has yet to have a contract over $20 million. Jordan had contracts in excess of $30 million a year. If the Heat go after Carmelo, he would need to lower than number even more. Possibly to sub $15 million. I don't give a shit how you word it, Jordan's brand is one of the biggest brands in history. Lebron will not make Jordan's money look like pocket change.
