Players hone their flopping technique watching the World Cup no doubt about it. Actually read this on Divac earlier, he called it the "Shaq Rule" http://probasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/06/09/vlade-divac-in-favor-of-nbas-anti-flopping-rules/ Yeah, I would def flop when it comes to Shaq, fuck getting hit by those Elbows - Glad to see he was honest about it though. I forgive you Divac.
The flopping isn't the problem, it's the refs doing nothing about it and the non-enforcement of the really weak anti-flopping rule that's in place now.
Players' flopping IS part of the problem, these refs in real speed it's hard to see what's acting and what's not - in a split second decision they have to make a call. The acting is so good nowadays, sure if you watch it in slow motion it looks obvious. I agree the rule should change, flopping should result in a technical foul.
If I am the Spurs, no way do I want to go back to San Antonio with Miami up 3 games to 2. Heat just displayed the ability to beat the Spurs on their home-court. Btw, I really hate the Finals format of 2-3-2.
Spurs need to be at 2-2 if they want any shot at this series. If they fall 3-1 we might as not finish the series their. Miami has won 11 straight at home and I think they are 8 or 9 and 0 in close out games at home. So Miami up 3-2 back to south beach for game 6 could be all she wrote
Start suspending guys for flopping and start penalizing the big name guys like Lebron/Wade/Paul and this shit will stop
Yeah I mean these fines mean nothing. I would start handing out suspensions, and if they do it in the playoffs I would just have them suspended starting the next season. Flop 1: 2 games Flop 2: 5 games Flop 3: 10 games Right off the bat some of these players will be missing 17 games of the next season. Obviously this would never happen though.
That will never happen. They don't even call fouls on those guys because the NBA is obsessed with ratings. How many times has LeBron fouled out in his entire career? Twice? Someone please convince me that with the way LBJ throws forearms into the throat of defenders away from the ball, blatantly charges, and gets away with touch fouls all day long that he hasn't legitimately committed 6 fouls in more than two games. If they aren't willing to sit them at the end of the game with fouls, they'll never suspend for flops.
NBA is desperate is hell, thats the issue. As Abyz said, Lebron never fouls out cuz the moment he does people are changing the channel.
Also heard this on WFAN, Lebron is only the 2nd player ever to score 35+ in a playoff game and shoot as high of a percentage as he did last night. The only player ahead was Shaq.....a Center. The Lebron hate needs to stop, the guy is just on his own in terms of level of play on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball.
At this point it is pretty obvious that Wade isn't getting fined, but even if he did, what would it be? $5k? I bet he spends more than that on haircuts in any given month.
Oh boy that would be terrible. Refs can barely get right if something is a flop or foul (side note, I thought they did good last night overall letting the teams play by that foul on Manu against Wade was brutal and hurt them overall in how they called the game). Now if we entrust to tell in a split second if something is a flop and then define is it flopping if you are fouled but then exaggerate the contact and all of that, no thanks. The NBA adding a tech afterwards would be interested, so the suspension comes into play for technical fouls, or something like that.
http://espn.go.com/nba/playoffs/2014/story/_/id/11057507/nba-finals-2014-dwyane-wade-fined-flop 1st time offender in the playoffs is 5K. They don't do % of salary
Yeah both these teams do it although Wade was just ridiculous there. Both these teams create contact, make sure the ref sees contact, and exaggerates contact. They are good at it.
