I don't know about "bear" hands but part of the report when the story came out was that they would kill poor performing dogs by electrocution or beating them against the ground until they died. If you think that's funny I guess you have your own problems.
The actual facts are very blurry. Many of which claim that he never had any involvement in it other than knowing and the money aspect. I don't find it funny. What I find funny is that the story constantly changes to make it worse and worse. Next thing someone will say was that he killed and ate them also.
http://hosted.ap.org/specials/interactives/_documents/vick_summary_of_facts.pdf top of page 9...not blurry Not trying to get into a snit with you. Just demonstrating that my opinion isn't based on conjecture or misinformation.
I never said he didn't agree to it or fund it. In fact I said he did. I just don't believe that he participated in personally killing these animals.
I was against the Jets signing Vick. Not because of his past, but because of his present. Just seems like an injury waiting to happen.
I remember reading a lot about this when it happened and I read a lot also when we signed him. There are many mixed reports but many claim that Vick didn't actually participate in the killing. He funded all of it, made money off of it and condoned it, but as far as I've read, he never committed the acts with his hands.
I thought all of you dog lovers had already stopped supporting the team. I mean what are you supposed to do with under performing fighting dogs? Hug them and tell them everything will be okay. I don't think so.
Yeah, I looked for a bit this morning to find the testimony but didn't have enough time. Nobody is changing any story about Vick, the story has been the same since before he went to prison.
fair enough. I have a hard time grasping that though. I lived in the south in some pretty tough neighborhoods for a bit. Never saw a money man that was not hands on in an operation of any kind. that doesn't mean he was or wasn't. Just what me life experiences lead me to believe.
Yer kidding...right? I'm trying....but I'm still having trouble accepting Vick as a Jet. I know he's paid his "debt to society" and all, but someone that abuses dogs is a special kind of scumbag...that's part of my "culture".
If you listen to the Jets players when asked about Vick it's an "honor" and a "privilege" to play with him. I've yet to hear anything different. Maybe behind closed doors some call him a scumbag but it's def not the majority. The only people that still give a shit about what he did are 50 percent of NFL fans. Players can drive drunk and kill people and play in the NFL with no problem , be in or support gangs and no one says boo. Be a multiple murderer and you'll lose your contract but you won't be see as scum by many people because well killing humans is more common. Truth is there's probably a lot of athletes out there today that have done illegal and disgusting things that they didn't get caught for. So really who cares? About 1 percent of these guys are true role models.
It's time to move on from his past and focus on his present and future as a Jet. Society has done just that for many with unacceptable crimes, Ray Lewis, Stallworth, Ben the rapist and many others. If there is a difference here is that he actually served his time and paid for his mistakes, did not buy his way out of it because of reputation. His screw ups, like it or not were mostly driven by the very product of the environment he grew up in. But the past is the past and bringing it up at every turn serves absolutely no purpose if the person has shown the ability to correct his behavior and change his life accordingly. You may chose not to forget him, but that is strictly personal and has nothing to do with his current role. He is a Jet now, a solid and explosive professional athlete that can help this team immensely. He will push Geno to the max and provides us with a terrific back up as well as a solid and dangerous starter. People are free to underestimate his worth as a leader and a QB. I don't think the opposition will...they know his capabilities and sure as hell will game plan against him. Something we have not had for a while.
While I do agree with you, you also have to remember you are talking about a full time NFL player. He was doing this on the side while playing for a National Football Team.
Dog fights and related activities are like arguments about gun laws and regulations. Neither side will ever identify with the other, and much like the gun debate it seems both sides want to push themselves to extremes, so it becomes "nothing is worse than killing dogs" vs "almost any other crime is worse than killing dogs".
I seem to recall a lawsuit in his past prior to the dogfighting stuff where a woman sued him for transmitting herpes to her. Let's not portray Vick as great guy because he's on our team now. I'll still be rooting for Geno.
You're twisting his words. He said "bare hands". I'm a dog lover and I'd admittedly be curious to see him do it with bear hands.
Huh? I know a lot of Virginia Tech grads who are more than a little embarrassed that such a high profile alum has such a tenuous grasp on the English language. Articulate is at the very bottom of the barrel of Michael Vick adjectives.
