I think the goalies today are much less talented than goalies of yesteryear. When I played there were almost no butterfly goalies. Stand up goalies back then used their gloves, blockers, skates and sticks MUCH more effectively. Now guys basically spread those big pads across the goal mouth and use those massive chest and arm protectors to guard the middle top.

But yes, the Devils played a very defensive style that led to their great success but he was a huge stopper back there. He wasn't just a passenger on those teams, he was one of the drivers.

I can't believe I am going to say this, but Anton Strahlman was a beast last night.

Oh..agreed. Was watching the Rangers Canucks game 7 and the one thing that just blew me away is that we know it has happened but the mind just goes blank...the Richter looked NAKED. The pads...I mean...he looked like a little punk in the net. Its amazing how big the pads have gotten..agreed bud.

I still have most of my equipment. My chest protector and arm pads look silly, can't believe I used to face live pucks with them.

Started in maybe 7th grade (wasn't yet very big back then) and played through college (Club hockey).

Rangers will be okay. The Kings are probably more talented overall, but they generally don't shoot very well, as in they put a lot of shots right in the chest. Thats fine against lesser goalies but they are going to have a hard time beating lundquist consistently.
Also the Rangers are better at puck control than people give them credit for.

The Rangers sure would've liked to have stolen last nights game but I see this one going the distance with a lot of 2-1 type games. Rangers are fine.

The Rangers can not win this series without Girardi and Staal playing their very best. I'm sorry, not going to happen.

Hanks been the best player on this team for 9 years, you can't win the Cup by yourself

Can't blame him for the goal though. Clearly on Girardi.
