can not believe how many overconfident douche bags are on HFB talking about how easy the Rangers have had it and will get dominated in every facet of the game by the far superior Kings Holy shit this is going to be such an epic destruction of ego
GG..its driving me crazy...crazy. I have never seen a team get such little respect. Hey, we have all seen Cinderella teams. Teams with little talent..in all sports. In hockey, an unknown goaltender stands on his head for a series or 2. In the NFL, a disrespected QB has a big playoff game or 2. The only thing STATISICALLY you can give the Kings is that they have been there before. Saw a stat where 17 of their players have won the Cup and the Rangers its 3..with one of those guys being Carcillo. But if you go by season stats...I posted yesterday that the Rangers actually had more guys with over 30 points..more guys with over 20 goals. So then the argument is well..the Kings played 2 to 1 games all year long. Ok..so which is it? So their offense is much better in the playoffs but their defense is worse? Hey, could we get our doors blown off? I guess so..but if that Ranger team that played game 7 against the Canadians is the team we get for 5 or 6 games this series? People are dismissing that game because all of a sudden the Canadians had nothing left in the tank? But they had plenty in the tank to beat the Bruins right? Maybe they had nothing in the tank because they were chasing our assess all over the ice? So the Kings are bigger? I just really believe if we can beat their pressure in our own zone and safely get the puck out..we win. If their forecheck is as good as its been described? Then the Staal, Girardi and even MAC giveaways will doom us. Cut and dry. I could be all f'ed up here but I really think its that simple. We just need to have them chase..chase..chase us all series long and we will win. Im really sorry for the long winded posts but Im all wrapped up here...Im shot.
A.V. said something that went under the radar yesterday..and it was with a ton of confidence. After blowing them for about 5 minutes..he went on to say that we have seen a couple things we can attack and expose. I hate when coaches throw that stuff out there but he had a purpose to it. He has played this team many times. He has something up his sleeve to expose..and I think we see that tonight. All season long, he gave you nothing..no bulletin board stuff..nothing at all...but yesterday he did something he hadn't done all year..with a purpose.
am I thoroughly hucklefucked or is A.V. starting to look like Scotty Bowman in the face. Imagine if he has a ridiculous tenure with the rangers like scotty did with all his teams? c'mon rangers!!!! stick it to those overconfident punks!
Jay AV sounding like Pete Lammons in 1969 watching the 18 point favorite Colts on film told Weeb Ewbank to shut off the projector we're getting overconfident
You just get the vibe Tommy that this guy will be around for a long long time..very long time. Sather, if you heard his press conference..loves the guy. When you get to the finals it buys you several years I would think. This town found the perfect coach because behind that calm under control exterior..the guy has some fire. He is a great fit for this team..and this town. I think we finally got our long term guy...regardless what happens in this series.
Cam Talbot is in LA but has not been skating with the team because of an undisclosed injury. David LeNeveu will likely back up Henrik Lundqvist tonight.
I don't like the idea of the back up being a guy who has no quality NHL experience. If the back up had to play for some reason, I'd at least feel comfortable with Talbot knowing that he is an NHL goalie who would start for a lot of teams. The likely back up for Game 1 LeNeveu has played 21 NHL games in his career, and he has a save percentage around .890. In other words, he's not an NHL goalie. The Canadiens at least had Tokarski who although he is inexperienced at the NHL level, he certainly is someone who has a bright future ahead of him in the NHL. Besides Hank and Talbot, the other options for the Rangers are not NHL goalies. Thats what worries me about this series. The Rangers have gotten all the way to the finals, and with Talbot out now, if something happened to Hank the series would be over. Slats should have traded a late round pick to acquire someone at the trade deadline who could fill in if needed. Other teams have NHL caliber goalies on their AHL teams. The Rangers have a bunch of journeymen who never stuck in the NHL and marginal at best prospects.
