Agreed.. But we are all going to be very happy that we have a lot of money to play with the next 4+ off seasons... This is going to take some time to build this team up the right way.. We can't just sign every free agent in one off season and be successful.. He is doing a little at a time.. It is a breath of fresh air and I would like to give it a few years and see how it works.

Depends on how we miss the playoffs... If we go 4-12 then yea he is gone.. But if we go 9-7 or 10-6 and miss the playoffs due to a tiebreaker or something, Rex will be back and deservedly so.

I can't believe a thread that has a question which can't even be answered without sounding dumb is STILL going.

Hopefully at the end of the year we will be trying to figure out who deserves more credit for the great season.

It takes practice. But after awhile not so much effort as at first.

If the Jets suck...it would be Rex. Unless all 12 draft picks are total busts.

Homer. Your opinion is now completely invalid because I've deemed you a homer. Anyone who doesn't think negatively is a homer, and this is positive thinking. So you're a homer, and your opinion is wrong.

Heh, well i assume you are being facetious, but there actually is some merit to that. Trading up and investing so much in a player who did not provide a return on that investment and left the Jets searching for a replacement in a less than organized manner is in fact a big problem for the team.

I was concerned about Willie's history when they got him, and then was surprised he held up so well. But he did get hurt at the very end.

I expect Marty to be very productive, but he's got some personnel issues to say the least on his side of the ball. If the O is not productive, it is unlikely it will be because of the coaching.

Why is that also not true of the defense?

I think the only problem the CS could have that would be signficant is if they mismanage a Qb controversy, which we were talking about last week. But I can't imagine laying that all on Rex.

I just don't expect problems from the CS, although I suppose there's some chance of that. For all the problems on this team we as fans finally have the OC position settled for the time being, and that has been a problem for some time.

If the team struggles this year, Rex should and will be fired.

Idzik will survive but he will get a fair share of criticism. With Rex though, you can't go 4 straight years of no playoffs and expect to keep your job. It would be joke. His seat is still hot. And If I'm not mistaken his "extension" is set up that way, almost a bandaid deal to keep him on, but favorable if they have to get rid of him and eat the rest of the money. and that's a good call.

I'm talking about what Cards paid him. As much as he wanted to be a Jet I'm pretty sure he told Jets what the Cards offer him. If they would had match it he would be a Jet.

Makes no sense to bring someone back on a one year deal when you are trying to rebuild. Also makes no sense if that guy is hitting the wrong side of 30 coming off the worst year of his career.

People need to wake up and realize this is not a contending team and it's not being built as such for 2014. Idzik (thankfully) is looking 2-3 years down the line. Just look at pretty much every other signing and the fact that we have 12 rookies coming into camp.

Make fun of me all you want but I had to drop out of school in 7th grade to take care of my parents. They where in a car wreck and both have brain damage and I take care of them to this day Sorry we didn't have the money to afford around the clock care they need to this day.

Maybe they just didn't sign Cromartie because he's pretty much finished as a decent NFL CB. He sure looked like it last year. I understand he was hurt but he's up there in age with lots of miles on him and I highly doubt he's been taking care of his body as well as others who play a long time. The decision not to resign him might have more to do with him being finished than trying to save a buck or some overarching strategic rebuild.

But it makes better sense to bring in a injury prone CB? To replace him?

I'm honestly not quite sure who you are referring to. Patterson? I don't think anyone is seriously considering him as anything more than depth. McDougle? He's a rookie who has had one football-related injury that effected only his senior season.

From everything I hear Patterson and Milliner is our starters.
