This is the problem. The Kings size in the middle. We haven't faced that yet this year in playoffs. The notion that we are a small team isn't necessarily accurate since we have Pouliot, Nash, kreider and big D-men. It is unfortunately very accurate when it comes to our centers. That is where we are gay and small. very gay and very small. That is the biggest problem I see with this match up
I hear you tommy...but when comparissons are given about the 2 teams, they keep pointing to fire power. So what exactly are the big bad Kings? I mean, we have more guys that scored over 15 goals. We have more guys with more then 30 points this season. I guess all this talk about the two teams not being even close is about how the Kings perform in the playoffs...that I will buy. I just think this Ranger team has been just as impressive. The only thing I will give the Kings now is size...and that is big..this is a series about size against speed. MR. pointed out pretty well that the size isn't even that convincing. I don't know..Im a real negative mother but Im just not buying this as a Samson against Goliath type thing. In the playoffs I will always take the team with the better goalie and defensemen against the team with the better offensive guys (which statistically is only in the playoffs because the Rangers actually had better overall offensive stats during the regular season). Unless Quick pulls off a stand on his head series, this negative little bitch says Rangers win this series. They are the hotter team...could care less who the Kings played..but they have pulled more rabbits out of their ass then us so far.
and another thing...TOMMY made a great point about all the hard ons people have over the Kings. Its funny how the hard ons are from their playoff performances...because their regular season performances showed much less 'firepower'. Yet when people talk about the Rangers, its all smoke and mirrors...regular season stats. If you truly go by playoff performances, the Rangers have done a better job of stepping on their opponents necks then the Kings have. I mean all you have to do is look at what the Canadians did to the big bad Bruins...but as soon as we played the Canadians, they became overachievers. Bullshit.
The Kings played low scoring games in the regular season. They allowed the fewest goals of any team (only team within even 16 goals of them was the Bruins).
there offense was also dormant for the whole regular season too. they were bottom of the league in scoring.

Well those ticket prices just depressed me. It's 1,000+ just to sit in the nosebleed. It would probably be cheaper flying to LA and seeing them there. Looks like I'll be watching at home.
The kings are not like the Bruins, the kings have size and speed where the Bruins have size. The kings can go into corners and win the battles to come out with the puck, not saying the rangers defense can't win some of those battles but what ranger center can provide the size to help the their defense? The Canadians formula was dependent on speedy skilled players, it worked against a slower team like the bruins. It did not work against the rangers because the rangers combined defense and speed, however the kings combine all three, speed, size and defense. I just don't think Hag, Kreider and Richards are going to able to provide enough defense against kopitar, carter, Richards, gabby, Martinez. Still rooting for rangers though
The Kings were 1st in goals allowed and the Rangers were 4th...so top 5 teams. The Kings now score a ton of goals and they are an offensive juggernaut...the Rangers are having a miracle run. Not buying it for a second.
RM...Im not sure...but I will say this..whether its Montreal or the Islanders. The 3rd period the Rangers played against a desperate team..with the Rangers playing like it was a game 7 but mentally it was n t...that period was the best period of true hockey..playing with lead..not allowing the desperate team a thing...I have seen all year. So while I don't know what to expect against the Kings and hear what you are saying about digging pucks etc, that 3rd period changed my negative thoughts about this team because it was flat out dominant. I cant remember ever seeing a team down 3 to 2 and needing a win not able to do one thing all period long. So, that's what makes me believe that while this talented Kings team will have their way at times...so will the Rangers. I think the Rangers defensemen can own the front of the net most of the time...and win battles in the corners. Shockingly, I do think the Rangers forward can too. That was one of the best periods of hockey I have ever seen without the glitter.
I think the X-factor is in our goaltending and team defense throughout...But the biggest key is in our Power Play. We need to score on the PP against the Kings because they will make mistakes and we need to capitalize on that.
