I don't think I have ever seen a bigger lack of respect in the finals of any major sport before. Articles like these were popping up long before the series was even over. I understand the Rangers are the underdog but no one seems to be giving them even the slightest hint of respect. I hope this add to their motivation. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/column-la-rolls-chicago-york-081718102--nhl.html
The guy who wrote the column clearly didn't look at the regular season results where the Rangers were 3-1 against the two teams and had an 8-5 goal differential.
Big thing to consider, first of all DeBoer is a moron so you can't compare the coaching from the '12 Devils team and the '14 Rangers team. Second, AV was knocked out by the Kings in '12 and he's going to want revenge and he's been trying to prove everyone wrong all year. The guy has been pulling all nighters all season picking apart video and then having one on one instruction session after another with every single Ranger so they know exactly what to do for literally every minute of each shift. Whatever weaknesses the Kings have, AV will find and counter. As always, team must stay disciplined and on their game. Rangers can shut down the Kings, Rangers in 6
We have a real good chance....LA had a ton of trouble with Black Hawks speed game, Hawks blew it by sitting on the 1 goal lead in the 3rd period, we also have a better goaltender then the Hawks and we have 5 top flight defensemen
Many storylines possible here...First, I think the Rangers will do what it takes to shut down Gaborik. We need Girardi at his best against Kopitar
No need to use the NHL thread right now, as all of the NHL's eyes are on New York. Pretty cool. Congrats, guys! The resilience of the Kings (and Blackhawks) was amazing to see in the WCF. I wish any of my teams would play like that, but they don't. It is hard to make a prediction on this series as many factors go into how the actual match-up will go. Game 1 should tell us a lot. My first thought is Kings in 6, but Henrik could steal any game in the series to sway it the other way. And what about Gaborik? Couldn't do anything in the playoffs with the NYR, now on fire. Should be a lot of fun. Can't wait!
The King vs. the Kings. There can only be one. I'm nervous. LA looked gassed last night and the Blackhawks were just blowing past them. We should be well rested. Hopefully our momentum carries over. I can see this series going 7.
Great point, Drew. 3 straight 7 Game series and a brutal one against the Blackhawks, had to take something out of the Kings. Rangers should be more rested and the fresher team. That is why Game 1 is crucial.
@KatieStrange - In order to win the Stanley Cup, the @NYRangers will need to score some goals on Jonathan Quick
She always leaves us hanging...some goals...there were reports she actually tweeted "more goals then the Kings" but its unconfirmed. I hope that's not true because we could find ways to win in other ways.
So its the Kings huh? An argument could be made that if you could choose on team to play against it would be the team that played 3 straight 7 games series...but no team has ever done that. One thing is for certain...positive..100 percent..that nobody will feel comfortable winning the cup until the final buzzer goes off because the Kings are NEVER out of a series. So, lets say we go up 3-0...3-1..miracle...this is the one team where no lead is safe. And another Tort drifter in Gabby is back to playing great hockey. Might have to make an all TORTS SAYS HE IS FINISHED team.
Hawks skated rings around them last night, poor goaltending and nesting the lead in the 3rd period killed them
@KatieStrange - NY Rangers will be wearing their road white jerseys the 1st two games of the series in LA...
