Not sure if any of you know about this event,maybe you have seen it in the news this week. We have "Harley week" 1st,then on memorial day weekend we have black bike week. It Originates in a small area here called Atlantic Beach,but they fill the hotels up ad down the strand. This year was an absolute warzone during bww. Its always had its share of problems,as there would be with any large group. But this year we had: In a 10 block area, 10 shootings(3 deaths),on the street and in vacation hotels with families vacationing . 27 rape reports to police on sat alone. Some hotel maids were pulled into the rooms and raped. 5 blocks completely shut down by mobs in the streets. EMS workers shot at. 2 occurances of families walking onto the beach and being told by a black male with a gun.get off,this is our beach this weekend. A brawl at the Tanger shopping center. Hundreds of reports of dine and dashes. Restaurants torn up,people smoking pot at tables in retaurants. Bike and Car thefts,armed robberies of peolle in the area,and stores in the area 1700 ems calls. ad more.....In 2-3 days! watch this video and get a taste of the mentality that comes. Keep in mind that 80% of the actual bikers are not the problem,its the element that follows them here and uses their cover and numbers overwhelming police to commit crimes. But the event itself is still what draws them in. Just thought other people should see this. The community is so pissed off ,they have gone to town hall,state gov etc..its become a movement to end this whole thing. But,then theres the groups that call the community racist for their concerns. So what do you do? Just thought I would see what you guys would want your community to do.
??? I don't understand this reply,but ive seen a lot of it this week. I said clearly that the bikers themselves aren't the problem,its the folks that follow them in and in many case,steal bikes and property from the black bikers. What went down on Ocean Blvd this week cant happen again. But how do you fix it with keeping bike week intact.
It doesn't go on during white bike week. Harley week is much smaller than it used be,but never had anything like this. Not even close.
how do you stop it without being called racist? Myrtle Beach actually would never host the event,Atlantic beach(a 4 block "city") has the actual bike fest,but they don't have hotels,so they stay along the beach and "party" everywhere.
There are a lot of people that come down here to enjoy that weekend. They come from all over with trailers full of bikes. They haven't found any of the shooting suspects,but the victims were all from pretty close to here,and the police think the shooters were too. yes,really. tell me Are you saying it sounds racist because I called it black bike week? That is the name of the weekend event. http://www.blackbikeweek.us/ The town that hosts it,Atlantic Beach,was once a 4 block area between North Myrtle and Myrtle Beach that was the segregated beach. It is still a black community,and Ocean Blvd actually does not run through it,instead it comes back out to hwy 17 to go around it. "Harley week",as some,but not many black riders too. It is not labeled white bike week,it just ends up that way because of the different tastes in bikes. Black bike week,on the other hand,is purposely that,and officially a 95% black event. I didn't come up with the separation on my own,i was trying to describe the situation. Harley week also hosts "throttle fest" at House of blues as seen on tv.
Dang. I went to Black Monster Truck Week in Arkansas two months ago and there wasn't a dang big titty ho anywhere.
